Fast Track Build Time not available

I managed to get an Octane 2 Pro ordered by my employer, but we could not check the Fast Track built time option from the form because a message was popping out about the PCS waiting for delivery of the display screens and that they cannot guarantee the build in 5 days.

I understand that, but does that mean we cannot pay anyway to get a faster build, instead of the 10 days, once they get the displays in?

If they do not have it in stock, they obviously cannot guarantee when it would be built, however, if you order it without FastTrack you can add FastTrack later when it does become available (ie. when they've got all the required stock in - which could be tomorrow for all I know or could be in a number of days), noting that the time will just start when FastTrack is added to the order rather than when you initially ordered it.

As above, you can order the system now.
Then you can amend the order to add fast track, so your best option is either ring them and find out when screens are due in, or try and amend the order every day to add fast track. It will tell you if it can or cant when you try to amend the delivery.

Might be quicker to ring, as the system might not update until a few hours after the stock has been delivered and booked in fully. Ringing you can get them to amend the order there end if the delivery is in but the stock system is not updated yet.

Well, as I am not ordering the laptop myself but is through my employer I don't want to impose and nag them every day. Will try see if they can ring.

I agree that it makes total sense to not guarantee the dispatch will be in 5 days from the order, because parts are not in stock. But maybe there should be a way to keep the fast track build option available from whenever the building team can start building. Maybe with a clause saying "fast track build dispatch times take effect on receipt of first email announcing build is starting..." or something similar with better wording lol.

I am not complaining or ranting, just as a customer found it strange and wanted to see your point of view as non new customers...

I see what your saying, but if you have been waiting 5 working days for a part to come in then your build will start fairly quickly after that with or without fast track. If a part is not in stock you do not loose your place in the queue, you simply stay at the front if you reach it and the part is still not in. Then when it is in you are next.

The whole reason for fast track is that you skip the queue entirely. I believe my first build I chose 3day fast track. I ordered it at 10am and by 11:30 it was in build, and by that afternoon it had gone into testing.
