Finally ready to take the plunge - er I think

Hi guys.

My current laptop is on its last legs and so after much to and fro have settled on what I THINK is a good spec within by budget.

My quick questions - is there anything which looks out of place/you would change whilst keeping within the same cost (£850 budget)?

Is the thermal paste upgrade worth it?

Am I just being paranoid in taking the dead pixel insurnace?

The machine will be used for gaming - with the hope that I will be able to play new games on reasonable settings for as long as possible - as well as general excel/word and browsing.

Many thanks in advance,

Ben

Picked exactly the same spec but in the 17" version and was wondering the same things. That for 19 bucks id rather have piece of mind wen spending all that money. Imagine being stuck with a dead pixel from the off.

If you want it to last as long as possible, a desktop is the best choice as it has much greater performance for the same or less price. That is a good laptop build and should last however.

The thermal compound is good - the cooler it is the quieter it is!

As for dead pixel - it's £12 but if there isn't a dead pixel on arrival nothing will go wrong in the first 30 days. I've had the enigma III since 2011 and I've had no dead pixels.

//Edit\\
The one issue I did have with my enigma III was clevo not release updated graphics drivers for my card.. not sure if this is still a problem. Because it's built into the laptop nvidia wouldn't let me use the stock graphics drivers.

Thanks guys.

I think I'll go with it although I may upgrade the dead pixel guarantee - I had been under the impression that any dead pixels were likely to become apparent pretty much straight away.

Unfortunately a desktop isn't an option due to space at home.

Sorry I didn't make it clear - a dead pixel will show itself straight away - if there isn't one past 30 days then you most likely won't get one

Ah, I see.

Re-reading I can see what you meant and that ties in which what I had read elsewhere.

Thanks again - it's very much appreciated.
