Looks like a good spec to me got to ask as it's not on your above post have you added the silver warranty on if not it's only £5 and gives you a full year collect and return instead of 1 month.

Thanks for the input guys.
I dont recall seeing an option for a coolmaster PSU but im pretty happy with the choice i made and im spending £1k so im not bothered about saving £14 :D
the boot up speed regarding the hardrive cache doesnt bother me as im in no rush if im honest.

just to add i will only be gaming on my bedroom tv (sony) at 1366x768 so i think this spec is up to running the likes of Fear3 at high settings?
12months from now i will get a new graphics card and i think the i7 processor and 8gigs of ram will still be more than enough to run games?

I think you should request to change the drives, seeing as it wont change your order and they shouldnt charge you, and they probably wouldnt charge you to change psu

I reckon youd save a couple of seconds with double the cache which is well worth it

Im going to go against that one.

In my experience mechanical drives are slower at large capacities. 1Tb will be fractionally slower than 500Gb as the arm has more platter to cover. Cache will generally not make up for this.

No i think its the other way around, the bigger capacity on the drive, the tighter it is, meaning it takes less time to move across 50gb on a larger drive than a smaller one

They all spread out across the whole platter, just at different densities, and the more dense it is, the easier it is to move data to data

The less fragmented it is maybe, but the rule since the beginning of mechanical drives has been. Seek time goes up with storage.

of course other things can help to offset this.

but saying to go for a 1tb over a 500gb for speed is not right.

I said the 750gb (or i meant to say that) because you get 250gb and double the cachefor only a fiver, so its probably the same speed, if not slightly faster

Wozza, things to remember, Gorman knows a lot more than you, has been working in this industry for quite some time and knows better then you about this :)

Its neither here nor there really, small differences.

I have always recommended a smaller system drive for speed as the difference will become moreso when the drive gets fully loaded and fragmented.

As i said originally, im just giving my experience here.

Something to consider

Also, just because someone is more experienced it doesnt automatically make them right, im going by what ive heard from people a lot smarter than me

It doesnt automatically make them right, it just allows them to pass on many many years of reading up (just like you googling) and actually testing hardware for themselves to other people. And when it comes to prospective customers giving them the benefit of my experience is kind of my job.

Anyway, that link. I dont get it, the guy doesnt know how to test drives?

Any drive cache more than 8mb is probably superfluous to requirements. Cache is used to span "calibration" breaks, and to store recently accessed blocks for repeated access. It is of little use for streaming applications (sound, video), and may even add to the overhead of these operations.
In my opinion,(for what it's worth)It would be more advantageous for movingtables to keep it as it is.
