FSX top spec PC (with a view to using Prepar3d)

Hi
I use a 3 Screen setup for FSX at the moment, and want to upgrade since my system was high spec in 2007. I may switch to Prepar3D in due course and want to be able to overclock.

Does anyone have any tweaks preferably based on experience, to this suggested spec which might have a real impact on flight sim performance with FSX or Prepar3D .... My current spec from 2007 is Intel Pentium dual core at 3Ghz stock speed (I forget the chip number offhand but good at the time) 8GB, GTX8800 sual SLI, Ram DDR3 at 1066Mhz, air cooled, twin HD drives and one of the first DDR3 Asus ROG motherboards. (Wasted my money on the second GTX8800 given that FSX does not use SLI...)

I figure it may be best to use a 4790k chip (z97 chipset) rather than an x99 chipset since the clock speeds are higher on the 4790k which is better for FSX (being CPU bound).

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you can judge the performance of the CPU with the clock speed, higher clock speed doesn't necessarily mean better performance. Any particular reason for windows 7 professional? Are you planning to overclock your CPU? I would downgrade the motherboard (any motherboard in the configurator should offer similar performance for your intended use) and go with a different SSD since it seems the Samsung evo are having some performance degradation issues over time
