Fuse keeps blowing

Hi folks,

For some reason the fuse in the plug keeps blowing. A quick google suggests my PSU might be the cause, although all those forum threads were very old. It's a 3 amp fuse and it only started happening recently. It blew on Monday and again today. I'm not knowledgeable about sockets (the non-networking kind anyways!) so I'm not sure what to do next.....any ideas? :D

probably a short circuit inside the computer, there is an outside chance it could be a faulty power lead.
A 3 amp fuse is sufficient for up to about 600 watts or so,from there up to 1000 watts a 5 amp fuse, best to use the original sized fuse of course.
As an electrician myself, I can tell you If you use too big a fuse you run the risk of an electrical fault developing into a fire risk.
Best phone tech support, because if it is a short inside the case it could be anywhere.

Vanthus is right you definitely dont want a 13A fuse as you could develope a fault e.g. a short circuit in the power supply causing it to draw 2000W of power without the fuse even noticing. Most desktop PC's will not need higher than a 5A fuse.

lucky im a sparky heres the quick answer your fuse may be under the required power.
If your pc is 750w you divide that by the main voltage in the uk thats 240 so 750 / 240 = 3.125meaning you would need a 5amp fuse so anything below 750w means 3 amp anything below 1200w is 5amp fuse and anything above 1200w is a 13amp fuse.
Hope this helps.
