Looking for some rts and rpg titles now i have a new rig.
I'm playing The Witcher at the moment and loving it. I like the C&C format for rts but will try anything.
I've just ordered Dawn of War 2 gold edition for 12.95 on zavvi.com, pretty good deal, get the chaos rising expansion with it which is around £10 on its own
I've also just started playing Supreme Commander 2+DLC which is pretty epic. Less than a tenner for both on Steam right now although I think today is the last day to get it at that price.
For RPG's, if you haven't played it yet Dragon Age: Origins is a solid choice. Otherwise give it a few weeks/months as there's a few excellent titles around the corner. Two Worlds II looks like it might be very interesting, but otherwise there are plenty of other choices: Dragon Age 2, Reckoning, Torchlight II, Bastion, Magicka, etc.
Good ol'blivion is always a brilliant choice for RPG. Also Total war series for RTS, Men Of War is a brilliant tactical RTS (the Assault Squad open beta is out). Company Of Heroes. Football Manager 2011!
i would highly reccomend oblivion. it has been my favourite game for an extremely long time now. also the fallout series is awesome - especially fallout 3 and fallout new vegas. both come very close to oblivion, but nothing beats oblivion, purely because of the replay value. i must have started at least 500 different characters on that game
Oblivion is excellent, but I'd look into mods to get the full experience out of that these days. Oblivion does have a few gaping flaws unfortunately. (Don't get me wrong, I finished it completely several times and spent hundreds of hours in the game, so it's not that I don't like it!)
Morrowind is in many respects superior to Oblivion, except when it comes to graphics and towns feeling 'Alive'. Morrowind definitely requires mods to get the best experience out of it - but when it comes to pure gameplay / RPG experience it's a superior game.
Fallout is excellent, but I've not yet tried New Vegas. Waiting for a few patches before I throw myself at that one, I absolutely loved Fallout 3 - so I want to ensure the experience with New Vegas is as positive as I can make it.
thats a very good idea. it is in dire need of a few patches, however is still a great game. quite similar to fallout 3, but with loads of little changes that make it altogether a hugely more enjoyable game.
I really, really liked the first 2 fallouts - which is why I went into Fallout 3 even before the game was out. (One of the few things I've ever pre-ordered.)
I know New Vegas is more true to the first games than Fallout 3 was, whilst maintaining everything I loved about Fallout 3 as well. That's why it's vital I don't play it until it's in a decent state - I would hate for the experience to be tarnished in any way. Of course that means we're miles behind anyone else with a review but frankly we don't really care. We're not around to review games quickly but to review them properly.
