Gaming headset

Looking for a gaming headset for the PC but that's also compatible with the PS4, The PS4 can take normal 3.5mm jack so I think most are compatible or will be after a patch.

Currently I'm looking at Sennhieser 320 and 323D, and a few turtle beaches.
Price wise I would ideally like to keep it under £100 and preferably folding or ones with a case.

I would like a mic and I think all gaming headsets do, but I'll happily adopt a headset without a mic if it's significantly better than the gaming headsets.

Also what do you guys prefer as for sound?
I have a soundcard in my PC and to be honest, I never use the 7.1 option I always prefer the normal stereo for a more compact, bassier sound.

There are other threads in the peripherals forum which talk about gaming headsets so you could have a look at them.

Also, if its called a "headset" then it includes a mic. If it doesnt then its just called "headphones", so yes, if you are looking to get a "gaming headset" then it will include a mic. :)

Thank you for your reply.

I went with the Sennhieser PC 350SE, so I'll probably post a little review on them after using them.
I did pay £120 for these so I'm expecting big things from these headphones otherwise they are getting sent right back :p

They definitely look pretty smart with a lot of good reviews on amazon. For myself the most important thing is comfort when it comes to headsets (that's why I went for the Siberia V2s). Would be interested to see how you find the Sennhiesers are. :)

I have a pair of sennheiser earphones and they are really good, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Yeah I had a pair of CX200 earphones which I loved until the right one stopped working (I think someone stood on them) which reminds me, I need to buy the CX300 :)

I have an ignorant question - what makes a headset into a 'gaming headset' (other than the increased price!)?

(I may come across as facetious here, but this is a genuine question)

A gaming headset is designed to give better positioning of the sound making the game a bit more realistic.

OK, thanks Gazskeltz and Vanthus. The 'better positioning of sound' sounds plausible enough. Does it really make that much difference though? I'm not convinced...

What are you currently using? Do you have a soundcard? For me it was a massive difference in quality with dolby digital.
