Gaming PC advice please!

Hi there! It's finally time to upgrade my rig, as my poor "gaming" laptop is about 7-8 years old now. It's honestly served me fairly well, but it's hit the wall of not really being able to run the newest AAA titles, so it's time for an upgrade. I've been putting this off ever since I found that trying to play BG3 is like trying to run through soup.

Budget of around £2,000, just for the PC.
Uses: Gaming, Streaming, regular use.
Games to include: Baldur's Gate 3, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy XIV, etc.

This is what I'm currently looking at, per the suggestions of a friend. This was his "as a streamer, if I could buy a computer right now, knowing what I do about my current set up, this is what I'd get at your budget." I, admittedly, don't really know much about the hardware end of things beyond "Get something that is better than what you already have." So figured asking people who did know was 1000% my best shot. I was told this should likely last me for a good while unless there's some big leap in technology before then.

Mostly thought to post, because I saw somewhere that the case isn't recommended. There's not a huge amount of wiggle left in my budget, because with VAT this sits at about 1900ish.

Case: PCS SPECTRUM II ARGB MID TOWER CASE (PWM) *WHITE*
CPU: Intel Core i7 20-Core Processor i7-14700 (Up to 5.4GHz) 33MB Cache
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX (LGA1700, DDR5, PCle 5.0, Wi-Fi 6E)
RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 4800MHz (2x16GB)
Graphics Card: 12GB Nvidia GEFORCE RTX4070 SUPER - 12GB Zotac GEFORCE RTX Super Twin Edge - HDMIx 3 x DP
SSD: 4TB Corsair CORE XT MP600 NVMe PCle M.2 SSD (up to 5000 MB/R, 4400 MB/W)
Power Supply: Corsair 650W RM Series Modular 80 Plus Gold Ultra Quiet
Processor Cooling: PCS Frostflow 200 series high performance CPU Cooler 2502 TDP
Standard Thermal Paste
Sound Card: Onboard 6 channel 5.1 High Def Audio
Network Card: Onboard LAN port

Thanks for any assistance in advance!

Edit: I do like RGB, but I'm not fussed about it when it comes to the case, I'm also not entirely worried about space issues as my set up is pretty open. My monitor currently is a SAMSUNG C24F396 Full HD 24" Curved LED Monitor so it's a 1080, but I'm fine with upgrading to a 1440 in the future.

Hello, regrettably, that is not a well-designed build; INTEL is DOA, and no one would recommend it.

Your monitor is quite old and inappropriate for gaming due to its low refresh rate (60Hz), obsolete panel (VA), high response time (4ms), and lack of HDR. What's your max budget for a suitable monitor?

Here's an example of a decent platform that can handle 1440p resolution. We're slightly overbudget, though.

Case
LIAN LI LANCOOL 205 MESH C GAMING CASE - Decent budget case with good airflow
Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Eight Core CPU (Up to 5.2GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) - Best gaming CPU on the market
Motherboard

GIGABYTE X870 EAGLE WIFI7 (AM5, DDR5, M.2 PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7) - Not my first option, but your budget does not allow for more; it is still a decent MB
Memory (RAM)

32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB)
Graphics Card
16GB GIGABYTE RADEON™ RX 7800 XT GAMING OC - 2 x HDMI, 2 x DP - GPU prices are rather high right now; this is the entry level for 1440p
1st M.2 SSD Drive

512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) - OS Drive
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) - Main/game drive
Power Supply

CORSAIR 1200W RMx SHIFT SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - ATX 3.1, better efficiency at low loads, transient spikes protection, virtually unlimited room for future upgrades
Power Cable

1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR iCUE H115i ELITE CAPELLIX XT RGB High Performance CPU Cooler - Decent 280mm AIO

Well, guess it's a good thing I've asked for more advice then!

Unfortunately what budget I have is already set aside for the PC, so there really isn't anything left for a new monitor right now. Maybe it's not great to say, but I'm getting older and have always had bad eyesight. Honestly, I'm pretty resigned to just dragging a sub optimal monitor along for a while, because there's a very high chance I wouldn't be able to visually see a difference even with an upgrade. (Though I am dying a little inside, I bought this monitor about a year ago to give me a bigger visual area than my 15" laptop screen.

I'm going to be honest. I wouldn't even know how to begin to transfer my current OS to a new PC. It's just however windows was installed on the laptop when I got it. Plus upgrades and the switch to 11. I didn't even know it would be possible to transfer something like that to a new rig. Edit: Having looked into it, because I'm on a pre-built laptop at the moment, my windows key is OEM, so likely could not be transferred to a new computer.

Given the above, you can easily put a better MB (TUF X870) and lower the GPU to a 7600XT, since your monitor will be a bottleneck in any modern PC.

The W11 key on the Berserker in my signature started life as W7 on an HP prebuilt, just follow the instructions in the link that @Ekans2011 posted above
I did see that, but I also realized that's... probably still not really going to work, simply because I'd already promised my mum she could have my laptop once I upgraded. So I still need to have windows on the PC I'm getting rid of too.
