Gaming PC advice

Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of guidance with the first draft of my new gaming pc below.

When I click proceed it gives a message that including the 20% allowance it will require 1241W, will it be ok or do I need to think about removing something?

I realise that I am probably going way overboard with the dual GTX 590's but the plan is to have some serious future-proofing built in as I have never been one for tinkering around in the innards of my pc.

Anyway, feel free to pull the build apart.

Why don't you try something like this?

Personally, I dont see 590s in SLi as future proofing. What I would do is get 1 590 (save some money!), but set the rest up to be able to cope with 2, or later cards. This way, when things start to slow down as bit when we are playing Star Craft III and Sims 7, you can add a new card to up the game a bit!

Just my thoughts :)

Thanks for the comments so far.

SrgColman : thanks for the alternative build, I need to look at it in more detail to see exactly what you did. One question though, you didnt add a sound card, is there not much difference between the card I included and the standard onboard one?

DeadEyeDuk : I see what you are saying, so the 2nd 590 would just be sitting there and not offering much for the extra money. So if I drop that is the build as I have it ok to meet any future requirements? (tough question I know)

Unless you are listening to really high quality music on a really high quality speaker system I don't think you will notice any difference with the sound cards you picked and the standard onboard one.

I changed the CPU to a quad core because you won't be using 6cores for gaming, and changed the mobo to a cheaper one.

And I think what DED is saying is that you can leave room in your case for when gaming slows down to buy another 590 in the future (when they will be much cheaper)

If you're just gona game along with general use or with anything minor/once in a while thing then 8gb is enough. 12 or 16 gigs of ram is overkill just for gaming.

SrgColman's spec for you is a good choice to consider as it is cheaper and a more wiser spent for gaming as the i7 970 is a 6core cpu which is good an better than the i7 2600 but its price is big and 6 cores isnt really used for games, just 4 cores.

1 590 is plenty, its already a powerhouse gpu to last you some good years in gaming or whatever you do, a second can always be added in future or by that time, you could or may upgrade to a more modern better gpu that time. simple procedure :)

sound card is an option, if you have a good ear for sound then go ahead but if not then the onboard sound is real good in todays motherboards compared to old days. usually most people are happy with the onboard sound.

Edit: just refreshed, adding to what SrgColman says too^
