Ok, well firstly, what is your budget? Also, I wouldn't go for oc, I doubt you will need it. Make sure you get the arctic thermal paste. For the sound card, the asus card is supposed to be very good and is only £20. Finally, I would recommend getting a caviar black rather than the seagate. The 2tb caviar black are the same price as the 1tb so it is worth it!

My budget is around £1,000.
Dosent the overclocked version make the processor faster?
How is the artic thermal paste different from normal, and i read a few reviews on the Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Xtreme Audio, and people are happy with it and givin it 4/5 stars, i wasnt so sure about the hard drive, at first i went for the 500gb hdd, but i looked at the price and it was very similar, if you say the 2TB is the same price, ill go for it.
Thanks for the reply,

What do you plan to do with the pc? gaming?

If its for gaming, then there is no need for overclocking at all. It doesn't offer much to gaming. You are right that the cpu is faster but when gaming the gpu takes most of the strain and does most of the work.

Hi, im planing to game on my new pc, I've been playing on the pc platform since i was 6, and i will not play a game that has low fps, laggy etc. because i dont like that sort of things, so i basically want a new pc, for about £1,000.
So after you guys told me there isnt a point of getting an oc pc / overclocking will this pc be good enough to play at high setting, without fps lags ?

hi, i thought i'd show what i'd opt for and why. this is £1092

Case
InWIN BLACK DRAGON RIDER GAMING CASE nice choice, i like it, have you thought of the new white version?

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2500 Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics the same processor as the K version, apart from the K version has unlocked multipliers for easier and higher overclocking, so no need for the K.

Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z68-V/GEN3: PCI-E 3.0 READY, SLI, CROSSFIREX I wouldn't go for the pro,

Memory (RAM)
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 4GB KIT) 8gig is plenty for gaming, if ya want more ya can always order more from pcs.

Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready I'd go for one of these instead of the 6970 gonna give you similar levels of gaming, but you can sli two of these with a 850w psu(some say 750 is enough) but two 6970's needs 1000w psu.

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD2002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT

Power Supply
CORSAIR 850W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX850 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE (£99) enough for two 570's :)

Processor Cooling
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE INTEL CPU COOLER (£19)

Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

Network Facilities
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs

I can tell you now that that will play ultra settings at very high fps. You have no need to be concerned about the speed. If you can, I would upgrade to the i7 2600 but that will be a little more and you probably don't need it. Otherwise, looks like a solid spec.

I went for the 16gb because the price difference isnt that much and its double the 8gb.
I looked at the white case, as tom said, but i dont like it, white isnt my colour and ill stick with the black one.

I think ill order this pc ^ just after christmas, if you got any ideas of what to add please post them!

Thanks

you dont need that sound card, its a pretty pointless sound card, onboard will be just as good, and it will also be tightly squeezed between your graphics cards (when you get two, restricting airflow

First question, are you going to overclock?

Other than that, it looks good, I'd still recommend the asus card but you seem pretty set on your sound blaster. Also, you might as well get the 1600mhz ram as it very little more (like £5 or something).

Otherwise looks like a solid spec - enjoy it!

As someone said before, that overclocking does improve the speed of the computer, but does not improve gameplay, so answer to am going to overclock is probably no.
Im not sure myself about the sound card, people that boaght it are happy with it, but people who havent boaght it say that there is no need to get it?
Thanks for the advice in ram, ill get the 1600mhz

I wouldn't get a sound card unless you have a awesome sound setup.

Ya would be better getting a fairly decent gaming headset rather than spending money on soundcard + speakers. Plus onboard sound is pretty good on these new motherboards that pcs stock. I have used both onboard and soundcard and erm onboard is better for my headset so thats why i say dont bother with the card. Put the money to better use on other components.

edit- whats ya amended spec?

Im not so sure about the 850watts psu, someone said that i should get 2 gtx 560 cards in future and ill need 850 watts but ill have to think about it, after buying this ill be kind of out of money for a while, and having an extra 400 watts wasted is pointless.

good spec,

dont get the titan though, its massive and may block ya huge side fan from being fitted, pretty sure it will was looking earlier for another guy, the max cpu height on the dragon is 150mm and i think the titan is 160mm tall.

I wouldnt get 16gb ram, i have 8 and never came close to using it

the tritton ax 720 is that the analogue version? or do you use a little encoder box?

i'll post up a spec, that was if you only wanted the ONE 570 w

tom_gr7

this is a spec, say if you ONLY wanted one gpu, and are not interested in having two in sli.Which is still going to give you very very good gaming at high settings. Costs £1006 if ya want it cheaper and still good gaming, get the 560ti 448 core.

Case
InWIN BLACK DRAGON RIDER GAMING CASE

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2500 Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics same performance as the K version, no need for K unless overclocking, which we dont wanna do, shortens lifespan of cpu and increases power and heat output, also offers little to gaming as the gpu handles all the gaming.

Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z68-V LX: USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, ATI®CrossFireX ggood motherboard but no option to sli, which is fine as in this instance we dont wanna sli anyway.

Memory (RAM)
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 4GB KIT) I wouldn't bother get more, 8gig is plenty,

Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready this is going to give you very good levels of gaming, you could go for the 560ti 448 core or a 6970=if ya wanted to use two monitors

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD2002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT

Power Supply
CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE (£72) good psu, reliable and energy efficient, exaclt what we want in a psu.

Processor Cooling
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE INTEL CPU COOLER (£19)no need for titan unless overclocking, this is gonna give ya really good cooling for 19quid.

Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD) if you use optical for a tritton ax 720 stick with the onboard sound, if you use the analogue ports go for the 20 asus card, has a headphone amp in it.

Ok, i've made another build as you said, just removed the windows and got the 6970 instead of 560 because i have a spair 19" monitor and it might come handy.
Can i have 2 different graphics cards? for example the 6970 and my current gt 120?
Does the pc come with dvi/hdmi/vga cables? or do these have to be bought seperately?
Should i buy a SSD drive? whats the difference? what is it for?
Can i have the pc in a desk, where there is like a special place just for the pc, or will it overheat?

Good specs going up here, I have the i5 2500, GTX 570, and 8GB ram, it's epic. I have yet to find a game I can't max out and play very smooth.

I bought mine around August and it's still kicking arse.

See my sig, cost me £992 I believe, but I didn't need Windows as I had a copy.

No you can only use ONE graphics card, sorry if I didn't make that clear. But to that one 6950 or 6970 you can connect atleast 2 screens I think up to 3 or 4 monitors, but I hope other users will clear up on how you have to connect the monitors to the 6970's, you may have to use the display adapter.

Should i buy a SSD drive? whats the difference? what is it for?
You could add a SSD, but all that will do is increase boot up speeds and maybe increase programs loading times. worth it as a boot drive. But more of a luxury than a something you need.

Can i have the pc in a desk, where there is like a special place just for the pc, or will it overheat?

I wouldnt personally place a case underneath a desk, should get to sit up top we all can see it :) When you say in a desk, do you mean in a little compartment closed in? if so I wouldnt wanna do that to my pc, ya wanna make sure the hot air can escape and cool air can get to the pc.
