Hi all,
First of all, apologies for the long message ...
Planning to build the below rig and connect to my TV. Currently i am using my macbook to connect to my 42 inch LG LCD TV via hdmi. if nothing goes wrong, I should be ordering this rig by mid to end of feb.
Will be planning to play Simcity 2013, hots and maybe considering to start my wiz again in D3... to be honest really looking forward to watch dog in the third quarter...
I am an amateur in custom pc. To make up for it, i have been scouring across many forums, reviews site and similar custom pc website and finally I think this is the best possible bang for buck config with some level of future proofing? Seems like PC specialist offer the most competitive price and selection on parts (Kudos to pc specialist) . I tried searching amazon and the price difference is about 50quid...(minus the assembly and the installation)
WHY THIS BUILD
CPU - i5k and not i7k - mainly to save some $$ and hyper threading not required for most games?
Mobo - ROG seems like very easy to OC..(never oc in my life, but i like to have the option as it promises very easy OC). Look cool, better network connectivity and offer free anti virus (kapersky)
GPU - 4gb GTX 680, future proofing and SLI maybe few years down the road when this rig cannot max out on most games. (checked with PC specialist that their current stock is Palit, would be really happy if it is evga or asus thou)
Memory - 8gb is more then enough and upgrading in the future is easy. 1600 and 1866mhz cost the same, so i guess i will go for the 1866mhz version
Power Supply - 850 watts.. would rather have more allowance and cost difference is only 10 to 20 quid...
Casing - Look super cool and cheapest full tower
Cooling - Not really going to or very minimal OC, so not using liquid cooling. Another concern is i might be moving to other countries due to work commitment. Will the liquid in the cooling system freeze and thus crack the tubing and finally leak after the plane ride?
OS: Just want to give windows 8 a try
SSD - Faster Loading speed. 120 gB seems very tight, windows 8 will take up 16 gb... games usually take up 5 to 8 gb.. and some might even go to 12gb. Still need to cater for some programs and general free space to usage ration
HDD - just for storage of other usual stuffs...
CONCERNS
1) Connecting via hdmi from GPU -not utilising the rog sound card
2) Going to connect a LG sound bar (160w), should i use the sound bar as hub or use tv as a hub? my tv does not support ARC HDMI
