Gaming / Streaming

Hi guys,

My previous PCSpecialist build is about 5 years old and am looking to get a new PC for gaming and streaming the games I play.

At the moment I am mostly playing PUBG but will look at getting Destiny 2 and streaming that as well.

What sort of budget should I be looking at to be able to do this with a 144hz monitor and running these games with the highest settings.

Thanks.

As an example... personally I'd save the monitor budget and source elsewhere as there's a better selection and you should be able to squeeze a 1440p gsync 144hz for that.

What would you recommended for a 1st Hard Drive, Would I just put my O/S on the SSD. Also would there be any PSU upgrades or cooling upgrades that would make the rig less noisy.

If I wanted to upgrade the budget a little would a 1080ti with a CORSAIR 850W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET be a big upgrade for the PC also would this run a little hot?

You could up the psu to the 650w txm series which is modular so improves airflow through the case, and generally runs much quieter.

You could also up the cooler to the noctua which is very quiet and also would aid overcklocking which would help with streaming.

Sorry, I forgot to add secondary storage drive, a standard 7200rpm hdd would be ample.

The rmx cooler paired with a 1080ti would be a big improvement, but definitely consider 1440p 144hz gsync with a ti.

What about this setup, or do you have a better case?

Any you would recommended or is there not really any difference? Would I get the O/S installed on the m.2 drive?

FRACTAL DEFINE C BLACK GAMING CASE fits.

FRACTAL DEFINE C BLACK GAMING CASE fits.

The Fractal Define C has fairly limited cooling, personally I'd go for something more like the Corsair Spec Alpha which has 2 front fans and 1 rear and fits the Noctua.

Yes, you'd install OS and all programs on the m2 drive.

Bear in mind, a half decent monitor for a build like this is going to cost just over £500

The Define S is only a couple of quid more than the C and does have better cooling.

If this build is for streaming, an AMD Ryzen build with an R7 1700x would be well worth considering.

£14 extra (from £69 for the Define C to £83 for the Define S)

NOTE: you should be playing with the configurator to find out pricing, it's much quicker than asking on the forums.

ANOTHER NOTE: if you want to order your PC now and improve it later, you can drop a couple of things. For example, the SATA disk, and the Windows license. These can be added on later, but you'd still have a perfectly working desktop. If you select no Operating System, PCS will still install Windows 10 on your PC, with a 30-day temporary license. You can just buy the license elsewhere and add the Product Key.
Same goes for the HDD. If you order with just the m.2 SSD, it's still a fully functional machine. And later, you can add an internal HDD, or maybe buy an external one, if you don't want to fiddle with the SATA cables, etc.
If I were in your shoes, I'd drop the HDD and the Windows license, and bump the SSD to the 960 EVO. Price would drop to £1655 (or £1669 if you take the Define S case). But that's just me.
