General compatibility question

I have been looking at a lot of accessories lately for my computer. Keyboards, mice, WIFI Cards etc...

Most of them say Compatible - Windows Vista, 7 and 8. Does that mean they will NOT work with windows 10? Or given that windows 10 is newer than the versions mentioned you would expect them to be fine with windows 10 now it has been out for some time and drivers etc should be available.

I am worried about buying items and them not working for Windows 10

Any advise?

Certain things may not work with windows 10, older items are more at risk than newer peripherals.

If you are buying a new keyboard/mouse/wifi-card/etc. that was produced recently (within the last year or two) I'd bet it would work with windows 10. Depending on where you buy it from though you may be able to return it should you find there is some problem preventing you from using it.

Most newer kit has updated drivers (where applicable) that will work with Win10. Usually googling the device name and windows 10 would help to clarify if specific peripherals actually work with win10 or not.

Ask the vendor whether anything you plan to buy is fully compatible with Windows 10. If possible get this in writing (an email should be fine). If you then discover that the device does not work with Windows 10 you have a cast iron case for getting your money back.

I agree with steaky360 though, most devices like keyboards, mice, and wifi cards that are relatively modern will work ok. The problem areas tend to be with printers, scanners, and all in one printer/scanner combinations. With those you really do need to get confirmation of Windows 10 compatibility
