Hi, I will be using this pc for general computing and web browsing, video editing and gaming. Bit fed up of getting sub standard pc's with crap gpu's, forever wishing I could play this game and that. So I've decided to go for what I think is an above average build. Any advice is welcome

The case is extremely basic and could limit future GPU upgrades and impact cooling performance.

RAM is very, very expensive at the moment. It may make sense to go for a build with 8gb but faster RAM via a different configurator. The performance difference between 8gb and 16gb RAM is somewhere between tiny and nothing. Or just stick to 8gb 2133MHz on the cheap mobo and buy more when it's half the price.

The UV500 SSDs are slow by SSD standards, and don't save enough money to be worth it.

The H310 mobos's M.2 slots don't support the full speeds of modern SSDs either.

Also you're paying £50 for the i5 8600 over the i5 8400, whereas when you look at turbo boost speeds that only equates to 200MHz, which is next to nothing.

If going with the cheaper mobos and slower RAM. The B360s do at least run NVMe SSDs at full speed.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm not a big gamer but I've always skimped on decent gpu's and RAM and regretted it. All I would like to do is be able to play the majority of games at a good fps when I get the whim to download one (tired of my friends raving about a game then finding out my crappy gpu says 'no'). Would the builds you have suggested accomplish this?

Apart from games I do a little video editing after that just stuff a chrome book could handle.

I definitely agree with getting a better mother board, the ones you suggested have far more flexibilty for future upgrades.

As cases go I'm a little limited to size due to the designated area of my pc stuff by my wife, about 45cm is my top height, but I think the Sharkoon should be fine (will still need to take my saw out to remove a shelf!)

Anyway, very grateful for your advice, if you could just clarify my question about gaming performance on your suggested builds I'd be very appreciative

Thanks

I wouldn't recommend the Sharkoon case as it really isn't ideal for airflow.
There's the Corsair 275R - 436.5mm x 211mm x 446mm - (Approx H x W x D)

And yes, the builds above would perform near identically in games to what you posted. 200MHz off the CPU is nothing in most scenarios, as is 8gb vs 16gb RAM. Plus you can always add more RAM.

OK, I hit the order button at long last....the delay? Don't ask, life has a way of putting obstacles in your way whether you like it or not.

I chose to go for your first suggested build, but I chose the COOLERMASTER MASTERBOX 5T GAMING CASE and even though you said it wasn't worth it, I splurged on 16g corsair 3000Mhz ram. Yes, probably don't need it, but maybe future proofing a little

£1074 in total.

Thanks for your help

Hope the build goes with no complications......fingers crossed

Also just out of curiosity, how is Oussebon pronounced?
