Genesis IV - Bios Key?

Hi,

Just purchased a Genesis IV laptop with an SSD drive (and secondary HDD/no optical), and No OS installed. I can't seem to access the BIOS.. tapping F8 doesn't seem to do anything and I've tried all the other F* keys.. the screen is black, then PC Specialist Logo, then Windows 8 loads. I want to install Windows 7 and I have an external optical that I'm going to connect through USB, and I need to get into the BIOS to change the boot order in order to do that.

Q: So what is the BIOS key for the Genesis IV laptop?

Thanks :)

I managed to find the BIOS (had to restart and hold F2).

When I go to install Windows 7, which I did by restarting and holding F7 to change boot order and selecting the external DVD drive, it loads the installation files and gets to the Windows 7 splash screen and then freezes. Help?

If we have installed a test OS of windows 8 you will need to go into the BIOS and turn off UEFI SECURE BOOT. Normally last tab before the save tab.

Then try again.

No joy, still crashes at the Windows 7 splash screen. The BIOS tabs I have are: Main, Advanced, Security, Boot, Exit. On Security I have: Set SUpervisor Password, Platform mode (setup), Secure Boot (disabled), secure boot control (disabled).

You were right, I had to disable that UEFI secure boot, got it all installed and working now. I disabled the secure boot, as I wrote above, in the other tab in the BIOS. Should I turn that back on, or just leave it off?

Its to protect your windows 8 from being formatted over by any other OS.. Otherwise known as inconveniencing your day.
