Get a 570 or wait for the next gen cards?

I have a good build in mind but I'm not sure whether ill be needing to upgrade next year when the new cards come out. I'm not made of money so I'd hate to buy a great system now for it to be outclassed in less than a year lol

I don't want a 580 as I feel a 570 is better value, but I'm just wondering whether I should buy a system next year instead or just the 570. I'm guessing the i5 and i7 will be sticking around for a bit so I won't be concerned about a new CPU coming out will I?

Thats the problem we all face, if you always waited for the next generation to launch you would never buy a PC, Something new is always on the way.

If you decide to wait for next years GPU launches in the first couple of months of 2012, you will be very near Ivy bridge from intel which launches about march, so yes their is a new CPU about to come onto the market. If you choose to wait for that then you will probably find your near the launch of something else and the cycle goes on.

I would agree that a 570 is better value than a 580, you don't really need to worry too much as im sure a 570 will last for a long long time if your happy to lower the settings ever so slightly in the future!

Yes, if you wait till next year when some new cards may be out you will face the exact same problem as now, becuase there will be some even newer cards just on the horizon.

IF you have a computer to keep you going for now then I don't seen much harm in waiting, but if you don't really have a nice set up then I would just go ahead with your planned build. You can always just sell your 570 and upgrade to the next best thing when they come out if there is a huge difference anyways. So yeah just ask yourself if your current computer can keep you going or not.

I thought that might have been said! Thanks, I'll go for a 570 and ssd because a 580 on its own is the same cost.
