Glossy or matte?

I've ordered the Vortex II with a matte screen. My old laptop was matte and my netbook is matte too, so I had no qualms about deciding whether to go for matte or glossy.

My sister has a glossy screen laptop and it's annoying to have the light reflecting off it, which would be a PITA for working or gaming. But I tend to watch movies in the dark, which is where the glossy screen would be beneficial. My room has both a 60W (energy saving) bulb and a fluorescent strip.

Currently flicking between options as the laptop's in pre-production. I reckon this is what happens when it's been in pre-production for four days - you start faffing around with the configurations all over a gain! :D

your choice really on what you prefer but normally, matte would be better in those harsh light conditions. if not you can always direct the light source away perhaps somehow or change the settings like contrast, colour or brightness etc etc? or there is another option which is to invest on digital performance glasses/eyewear. they boost visual and help prevent strain and tiring eyes when looking at screens or monitors for short or long hours use as the lens is special to the human eye which i wont exactly go in detail (too lazy). i own a pair for my use during long hours of working or staring at my screen or gaming which work well.

I hate matte screens, eughh, I had a macbook pro with a matte screen, I took it in to be replaced for a glossy one. I dont know if its all matte screens, but contrast on mac ones atleast is a lot less than contrast on a glossy one. Plus Ive never had a problem with reflections, I not really sure why you would?

Thinking about it though I think my 3 LED screens at home are matte, as with most pc monitors and havent noticed lol.
