And I was thinking of upgrading to one gtx 760 but was wondering if I needed to change anything else and if it was a worthy upgrade! Thanks for any help in advance!

By a large portion, I mean I want to play most games at max setting 1080p. Do you think it's worth the £220?

The 760 was nvidia's replacement for the 660ti which runs most new games maxed out (metro last light and such bring it down to 20fps) so it should be a big upgrade. Even if you don't max all of them it'll only be case of lowering AA or something.

A friend has said the 770 is the best buy value for money? Any credence to that statement?.

It depends on your budget and how much you value the card for your intended use. Check benchmarks online for the games you are interested and see what is the most suitable gpu.

A GTX 770 is a really sweet card but obviously costs more, a GTX 760 will crank out very respectable FPS, the review i'm looking at here says 45FPS for crisis on 'very high' pre-set with the GTX 770 cranking out an impressive 56 FPS on the same settings. Value for money wise I would say a GTX 760 is still better value for money.
