Graphics card not detected

Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem with my RTX 2070s.

It seemed to crash and stop outputting through HDMI while playing a game and left me with a small artifact in the middle of my screen. Since then it hasn't been detected, although it did show as hidden in device manager (code 45). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but the Nvidia installer gives the errors -

"This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."

The laptop's had very little use so I then just decided to do a fresh install of windows but am encountering the same problem. I've tried both the PCS provided driver package (431.62) and the latest from the Nvidia website (451.67). Any ideas?

I have the same card and I also had the same error when I was installing my Nvidia drivers on my Nova laptop. Turns out Nvidia releases 2 kinds of drivers, the DCH and the non-DCH(they might have another name). Anyway, they are the same driver with the only difference that the DCH ones do not come with the Nvidia control panel by default, the control panel is installed through the windows store instead. I could only install the DCH ones on my device, when I tried to install the other kind I would always get this error. If you downloaded your drivers through the Manual driver section on the Nvidia website chances are you got the DCH ones. Maybe its worth trying the other ones?

451.67 non DCH: https://www.nvidia.co.uk/download/driverResults.aspx/162190/en-uk
451.67 DCH: https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/drivers/results/162244/

I gave that a shot but it was giving me the same error and PCS had diverted me to answerphone after waiting on the line for quite a while so I just gave up and stepped away from the computer, had already spent hours fussing about it. However, having come back to it the card was now showing in device manager as a basic display adapter and the nvidia drivers have since installed. So maybe it did help, I'm not sure...

It sounds like the card has failed. You'll need to create an RMA with PCS to get it swapped out.
This is my real worry, would be the third RMA in about 5 weeks. I really want to like this laptop but I think that would be a step too far for me. Although now that the card seems to be registering again and I've been able to install the drivers would you recommend running tests on it to try and replicate the issue or at least try to guage the health of it? And if so, which? I'll still try phoning PCS tomorrow to see what they say.

Best stress test for a gpu is furmark:

Just run for about 10 mins, if the PC BSODS or freezes then you know there’s an issue
