graphics card not recognised on new PC?

Hi guys

PC arrived today - reinstalled windows to make my PC work - works like a dream - so fast now.

Anyway it doesn't seem to recognise my graphics card. I've got a GTX460 but on my Device Manager, under Display Manager it just says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.

I've got 3 different DVI connections on the back of the PC - DVI-D / DVI-I / DVI. The first 2 are from the graphics card so that's where my DVI cable is plugged into.

Anyway I'm guessing it's nothing to do with my cable...as I can't even see the graphics card on the PC? Can anyone offer advice on how to 'install' it or make my PC see the card?

Thanks :)

Aha - fixed it - just needed the drivers :)

Now my only problem is I can't seem to find Bullguard security on my PC? I should have the free 90 day software but it's missing?

Cheers

Problems with my new PC

Hi guys

I've created a number of threads today and I apologise for continually asking questions :)

New PC arrived today. I've had to reinstall Windows and the Nvidia drivers to get things going but runs great now.

However I have 3 problems...

1) I am not sure I have the right hard drive I ordered. I originally order the Caviar Green 640GB but then changed it to the Caviar Black 640GB. However the Windows Experience Index gave it a really low score and when I checked it in the Device Manager it says it is called the WDC WD6400AAKS-22A7B2. Now I've checked on Google and it looks like I have the Caviar blue? (the caviar black on pcspecialist is called the WD6402AAEX)

2) I am missing my free trial with Bullguard? (yes I ordered it)

3) In the Device Manager it says there is an unknown device in other devices... how can I find out what this is?

It's missing because you re-installed Windows. It's installed by default, but if you re-installed your OS anything we put on, such as the free Office 2010 or Bullguard has been wiped. Why did you re-install your OS?

I have merged your threads for convenience.

1. Checking the QC Report on your order confirms that you have indeed got the wrong version of the WD hard drive, for which I can only apologise. Normally our QC system automatically picks this up, but for some reason it was mis-configured on the WD Black 640GB, and therefore allowed a Blue drive to be installed. We can either refund you the difference for this (and provide a games pack as compensation), take back the PC and put it right, or send you our a new hard drive so that you can exchange this yourself. Please let us know what you'd like to do.

2. After re-installing Windows, your free trial has been lost. You can download it again directly from Bullguard here: http://www.bullguard.com/try/bullguard-internet-security.aspx

3. This is probably an AHCI compatible driver, and it can be installed from your motherboard disc. Insert your motherboard disc, then right-click in Device Manager and select "Update Driver Software", then "Browse My Computer..." then "Let me pick from a list", then "Have Disk", then select your motherboard CD and navigate to "chipset". If further options are listed, select "Other Devices" or any "AHCI" device listed. This will fix the issue.

1) no worries mate. I definitely want the black one, so it's either return to you (which I really don't want to do - I don't like transporting my PC around willy nilly) or you guys send me the black and I'll install it. I've never installed a hard drive before...and when poking in the box earlier it looked a tight fit - reckon I can do it? Is it relatively easy? if so then yeah sure - but can I get it ordered to my parents house so I don't have to take another day off?

2) brilliant thanks - done this now. bullguard looks good - think I might buy it when the trial runs out! usually a mcafee man...

3) thanks will try this now

hi guys

I've removed the caviar blue (PCS are sending me the black for Wednesday) ready to hand to DHL - but I completely forgot to remove 3 things I installed - Bullguard, Steam and EMpire Total War.

Do I have to attach the HDD again (don't really fancy it unless I have to - damned delicate down there!) to remove these or will PCS format it when I send it back?

Cheers
