Hard Drive Choice ?

After a few months of hard saving I will be pressing the order button in the next day or so on a brand new laptop.

I have pretty much settled on a suitable spec for general / gaming (not too intensive - Football Manager / Flight Sim / EVE) but need a little advice on hard drive choice.

Option 1

750GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD7500BPKX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

or Option 2

1TB SEAGATE HYBRID GEN3 SSHD Drive, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (5400 rpm)

The above will likely be in a Optimus V chassis with 8GB RAM and the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M - 2.0GB DDR5 Video RAM running Windows 7.

So any constructive thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure of the general performance of the SSHD drives, but I've heard nothing but positive things about them. Therefore I'm more inclined that the increased performance I've heard coupled with the larger storage, I'd go for the 1TB Seagate Hybrid drive.

The claim is that performance is improved in situations where the SSHD learns what files are accessed the most, and puts it on the NAND chips for quicker access. Therefore in theory, boot times should be lessened when compared to the normal HDD.

The read speeds are claimed to be the same/similar to normal HDD's, with the improvement being seen in write speeds, and also boot times.

Anyway, I'd say go for the SSHD drive, which is Option 2.

Here's a review of a Seagate SSHD for you to examine anyway. http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/internal-hard-drives/1300510/seagate-laptop-thin-sshd-500gb
