Hard Drive Problem

Windows has detected a Hard Drive Problem, please back up the files, turn off the machine and replace the faulty Hard Drive


two days it lasted, thanks QC man... please can i request the seagate momentus XT Hybrid drive (500GB) instead of the one i have right now, the WD scorpio black 750GB, as im not filling it?, Thanks

The forums are not an official channel for support you will have to sort out an RMA on the main website by logging into your account or phoning them on 0844 499 4000 and call waiting times are here http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/call-waiting/ if you are happy to change it yourself they might agree to send out a replacement drive instead of you returning the PC to be repaired and you can't blame QC as any compnent can fail at any time, hope you get sorted out soon.

im sending it them back, easier that way (AND it wont back up, shadow copy keeps timing out) with a request for the smaller, faster hard drive, could even manage with a SSD, a 240GB one, and keep most of my films safe on my external

do they have a vertex 3 240gb? thatd eliminate any sort of bottleneck

the intel 240GB 550mb/s drive, would be £440 on top of the £1059 i paid for this laptop, but as its still under silver warranty, sholdnt be too bad

It's insured by them, they can't say no to it.

As above regarding the RMA procedure and PCS will get it sorted for you.

You are entitled to a replacement of the drive purchased if faulty, but a different drive? You will need to discuss this with PC Specialist.

Relatively new hard drives fail more often than you might think. No doubt it was working on dispatch.

1 of my old HDD that failed on my old system would crash the whole thing and the only way i found to copy what i need from it was to set it in small chunks it took a long time and got many restarts so i now always have my important things on my spare HDD and also backed up on an external HDD as you can never trust any hardware.

my 2TB external hard drive, cost me £102 and it hasnt failed me yet! (touch wood) ive got all my films and stuff on there anyhow, and its been backing up for a hour, and its only on 12%... sigh, and im using my bug free usb 2.0 port
