Hi guys, my current setup is pretty terrible. Pc is hooked up to LCD tv on wall. I sit on my big comfy sofa-like chair with my keyboard on my knee and my mouse mat next to me. I don't actually have any old mouse mats lying around other than a freebie I got at work which is quite frankly terrible. It's flimsy, it makes a terrible noise when moving the mouse and it's just pure horrible.
Anyway, now that I've had my rig for a couple of weeks I've come across a few minor problems that have unsettled me. Firstly, I've found that quite a few games really don't suit the mouse and keyboard or I just haven't been able to get used to them yet. I've found Skyrim to be difficult with keyboard and mouse and my mouse seems to enjoy releasing drawn arrows for no reason and I've also found lockpicking to be a bit of a pain using 'W' (unless there's a key that slow down the speed it turns the lock that I don't know about like the walking key?). Plus the whole UI experience doesn't seem to suit a m + k at all and I haven't got round to downloading mods to fix this yet so basically I think I'm going to be buying a wired xbox controller for £20 from Amazon. Does anybody have any idea on the wire length and whether it's a good investment? I'm sure it'll be fine but just want to be safe. Or can anyone recommend the wireless adaptors instead of a wired controller? I have like 8 xbox controllers at home so it does seem silly buying a new one when I can just get an adaptor but I do like the idea of not having to worry about batteries, etc. It does seem silly as I've moved from xbox to pc but I just feel some games were meant to be played with a joypad.
And then back to my original point, I need a decent mousemat but it needs to be like a hardback book. I'm not too bothered about the size as it only needs to be small (the one I'm using must be like w 15cm x h 10cm and is pretty perfect size wise) but it does need to be hard. I've been putting my current mat on top of a hardback book but it keeps slipping off but when I put it directly on the chair it's too soft and flimsy. I've been looking at the steel series on amazon but I've read they come rolled up in a tube which suggests to me that they're not as sturdy as I'm looking for.
My budget for the mousemat is £5-£15. I can go over but seeing as my keyboard and mouse set only cost 22 quid I'd rather not spend too much on this area!
Cheers guys.
