I can tell you now, you can really save some money if you want to! Firstly, the monitor, a standard Iiyama monitor will be fine, however, if you want to pay extra for the asus that's your choice!

Anyway, I've put together a spec, it is very powerful, let me know of your opinions, if you would like me to explain my choice for particular parts let me know! Here you are:

Hi Music Guy . Thanks for your advice. i see you have chosen the asus xonar dg sound card and head phone amp why that one instead of the soundblaster, i must say that i really love my music and want it as pure as can be, i was thinking of creative titaineum xf but cant afford that just yet,i have a great set of phones so would not need the amp i dont think i wasn't that sure about the graphic card for photo and video editing, so why that one.why the kingston memory card, and the extra kingston hard drive as well as the 1t hard drive. i think i will stick with the asus pa246q proart .. i would be pleased to hear your advice on the rest Music Guy and thank you very much for giving me your time and advice as im a bit green on some of this stuff, so thanks Paul

Hi Paul,

Firstly, which headphones do you have? Good quality headphones often require amping, however, if done properly, they should be externally amped. To be honest, the soundcard I would recommend is the asus xonar dx. I can't remember whether PCS sell them or not! If they don't just get one somewhere else and add it! As for the gpu, I put the 620 in. It is a cheap, powerful enough gpu. It will be fine for what you need. If you want though, you could drop it to a lower grade one. In fact, integrated graphics may be enough for you. As for the extra kingston drive, it is what you call an SSD (Solid State Drive). Now, this has no moving parts and is made up only of flash memory. This means that it is incredibly fast, especially in seek time. With harddrives, you have to wait for them to get 'up to speed' and for the arm to move around. The SSD just simply makes your boot time incredibly fast, makes programs open in a flash and generally makes your computer very snappy. With your SSS, be careful because space is limited and they are very expensive per GB. You only install the OS (PCS Will do this for you), boot programs and your most frequently used programs. Dont store files like photos, music etc. Space on these things is precious! Anyway, I hope this has helped you.

All the best.

Music.

No probs, enjoy it! And thank you very much for the rep, much appreciated! And yes, don't know precisely what that means but it does sound cool!!!

Hi Music, Keep your high hand low originated in Belfast in the 70s by myself Paul Boyne and Paddy Mamohan, Jimmy Magregor, whilst roofing , meaning keep your high hand low, take care, all the best, watch your back, see you, the jimmy story is a long one, and not suitable for this forum, i hope this has put some light on this old saying. keep your high hand low. regards Paul Boyne..... your right it does sound cool , all my friends use it,along with thousand of other people.
