HELP just bought the elimia pro!

Hi guys,

Just received my elimina pro a couple of days ago, I bought this laptop due to pc specialist being recommended by a friend but I'm on the fence with the laptop as I don't have anything to compare it to and haven't had a gaming pc for 10+ years. I'm using this to play warzone and trading.

Please see my spec below and if you could help me answer any of my questions regarding it, it would be much appreciated.

1. Laptop is super loud, I knew it would be loud but this is crazy when on gaming and turbo mode, I'm going to buy a cooling stand, however, how can I turn the fan speed low when gaming and just use the cooling stand? There are loads of controls in the control centre I'm unfamiliar off (PL1,2,4? SPC? TGP?)

2. There's a red light flashing under the laptop under the fans that's always on, is this normal?

3. Can someone recommend set ups in the control centre so I can optimize my laptop's performance?

4. Laptop doesn't really work at full potential unless it's plugged in and the battery lasts at most for 2-3 hours.

Overall laptop seems quite good however I did think that the chassis (quite flimsy) and keyboard (some paint on the keys is faint) would be abit better quality for the amount I've spent on it.

Haven't seen reviews for the elimina pro anywhere so hopefully some of this can help someone consider these things before buying.

Hi there, I'll have a crack at some responses for you....

SPC? TGP?)
Gaming laptops are always loud when being fully utilised. As much as you can turn the fans down to a lower speed, it's not really recommended as it will run hotter and hamper the performance. You can of course adjust the fan curve to something a bit more sensitive. Which version of control centre is it? Is there a specific fan tuning option? The PL1,2, etc relates to the CPU, you want to stay away from over/underclocking for now. Under-volting may be a good option but you really want to do some benchmarking and testing to see what's what.

2. There's a red light flashing under the laptop under the fans that's always on, is this normal?
No idea about this I'm afraid. I don't think I've ever seen a laptop with a light underneath before though. Can you take a picture to show it?
3. Can someone recommend set ups in the control centre so I can optimize my laptop's performance?
Would need more specifics on what options there are in the control centre. A screenshot would definitely help. To get the best out of it benchmarking will need to be done though, to dial in some fan curve settings and potentially an undervolt. It will also allow us to discern if there are any limiting factors or anything out of sorts.
4. Laptop doesn't really work at full potential unless it's plugged in and the battery lasts at most for 2-3 hours.
This is completely normal for a performance laptop. Getting 2-3 hours out of it is quite impressive. Due to the power the CPU & GPU require to run at full capacity it's impossible to run this way on battery, as it would just destroy the battery. To combat this all the systems run the GPU, and often the CPU, to a limited power output. This drops the performance quite significantly lower than when on power.

If you could download & install HWMonitor, 3DMark & Prime95... we can do some checks and testing to see what's what.

Hi Scott,

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply :)

I've attached some photos below that show the control centre current set ups when on gaming and turbo modes and also one with the red light. Could you advise if the settings are correct? And also any thoughts on the light that comes on?

Not had a decent pc in years so most of this settings are new to me.

I've ordered the cooling stand, if I have it on do you think it'll signal the laptop to lower the fan speed or is this something I would have to do manually?

In the Control Centre, if you look to the left you will see "Fan Settings" this is where you set the fan-curve or select various options.

With the NVidia Control Panel, that's for PhysX. I wouldn't be too concerned with that being on auto. Neither should make any temperature changes.

I'm not sure on the red light.

To get started with looking at the fan profile, install & run HWMonitor.... install 3D Mark and run some benchmarks. Firestrike I'm pretty familiar with but run more modern ones like Timespy as well :)

Just to be sure, is the light coming from under the laptop the same color as you keyboard? Im mainly asking since on my laptop (its a difrrent model), in certain angles you can see the color from the keyboard. Im not sure why it would be blinking however

If you don’t want to buy 3D mark you can just download the demo version for free on Steam. It still gives you access to Firestrike and Timespy benchmarks.

Nah it's defo blinking, even if keyboard lights not on it still flashes constantly. Thinking of contacting PCS direct.
