People of the PCS forums!

Help please?! I dont know what to do... In my sig you will see the spec im going to get once i FINALLY have enough money for it! I was going to order monitors with it too - IIYAMA E2473HDS 24" LED WIDESCREEN. But im not sure what would be best for gaming - Battlefield series, Call of Duty series, MAFIA 2, Dirt 3, Command and Conquer and maybe WoW. I will probably get other games too, but they are the ones i can think of off the top of my head. I was wondering would gaming be better on 1 monitor or multiple monitors, say 2 or 3?

What do you think? I know the system would be able to cope, but what would be best? 1, 2 or 3 Monitors? Any advice/suggestions possible is cool, thanks :)

Speaking from absolutely no personal experiance at all, from behind an ancient 19" non widescreen monitor...

I would love to try a multiple screen setup, would be really immersive. I think it would be better than just playing on 1 big screen. If you have the space for them you have the power to run them for sure!

one would be perfectly fine for all of those games so you shouldnt even need to worry on it, most i know is people running 1 and 2 monitors most. depending on what you would like to do, the 24inch iiyama monitor is fine for games.

I use 2 monitors but 1 just for gaming. this is normally when i load up a game, 1 screen for games and the 2nd is for background running things like msn, torrent etc etc.

the only time when i think 3 monitors or more is fine, is when you play racing games and maybe some fps. outside of it then it would be something big for example doing some media work or loads of data.

Yea i know what you mean, iv seen videos of Multi-Monitor setups on youtube and the games look great!

I use 2 monitors... 1 screen for games and the 2nd is for background running.

Thats what i was going to do originally, 1 for gaming, other for interweb and stuff. But as a said above ^^ iv seen videos of people with 3 Monitors and the games look great, really immersive, but i might just go for 2 like you said.

1 screen for gaming is perfectly fine :) 3 screens looks great but not much as its just giving you the human eye view. if you do a 3 screen setup then you should consider amd cards for that since amd's eyeinfinity is perfect for multiple screens.

I think i will just go with 2 of the 24" IIYAMA Monitors and maybe turn one (right) to portait mode for internet use - if that'll work?

yup, you can do that too if the iiyama supports or can be turned into portrait. you just adjust the screen setting to portrait in settings.

plus a 24inch monitor is a decent big screen anyways. you'll be fine :)

lol rep wasnt needed but thank you:)

question, what use do you have for such a monstrous that you're gona be ordering? 2 590s is a swift overkill in my view and will eat up your bills and the pc itself if not careful lol

dont think the 590 is true sli either but i maybe wrong also with regards to the monitor setup gaming wise its either 1 or 3, a 2nd monitor would only be for internet but it maybe usefull for monitoring temps if you go ahead with getting those gtx590 george fornby grills :D

I have picked 2 GTX 590's to play games like Battlefield 3 and other 'Graphic Heavy' Games at 100% Max settings, and to watch 'proper' HD Blu-rays. But if think its not needed and just 1 will do the job then I'm sure I can drop down to 1 GTX 590. In regards to my monitor 'problem' I think I will just get 2 and use 1 for interweb and to view PC stats - like temp.

im sure 1 590 is plenty to max games and bluray in hd, a mere onboard graphics will have no problems playing bluray in "HD" with vibrant visuals :)

as far as max settings ive seen the gtx580 gets 55-75fps in bf3 and the price is alot cheeper also the sli on them is true and from what evga users say the gtx 580 is a better card just it hasnt had the press because the 590 is now nvidias flagship card

Okay, thanks guys! :) I think I will go with the 1 GTX 590, I mean I can always upgrade late on :)

From the BF3 benchmakrs I've seen, the GTX 580 is the top card, and doing better then GTX 590, but they might not have sorted the 590 support.

yer it was alpha benchmarks but as i said the 580 is still a very good card and most of the big boys on the evga run 4x gtx580 but this might be something to do with the duel processor boards not supporting 8 gpu`s

get yourself 2 GTX 580 in SLI, its more powerful than single GTX 590, and I can tell you, they are awesome :D

As for monitors, im using 3 22" Iiyama monitors, its fantastic for work and fantastic for gamign too. Id suggest same as me or possible the 24" monitors, tbh I wouldnt go much bigger. If you go bigger stick to a single screen like a 32 or 42 screen, but honestly 3 x 22" is fantastic.

Thanks for the advice Frenchy! Isn't the GTX 590 just 2 GTX 580 Cores in 1 Card? But if 2 GTX 580 out performs the 590 then i'll probably go with that :) Thanks.

P.s. Do you have pictures of your computer/setup on the forums? I would like to see it!

the GTX 590 is two GTX 580 GPUs on a single card, however they are underclocked so its essentially two slightly less powerful 580's.

Strangely, Ive read a few oc reviews that say that even overclocking the 590's doesn't get the same performance as 580's :?
