I urgently need to be able to scan a document from a printer/scanner into a word document and then to be able to edit and make alterations to that document. I am using Word 2010 in Windows 7x64bit and I am not very clever with computers.

Urgent help needed please?

I dont know of anything that can scan a document so that you can edit it. Once you scan it,it would be like a picture in a sense, so the only way to edit it would be to use a picture editing software, as it wont scan the text as such, it scans it as a full shot. Just like a photocopy.

As captcha said you will need OCR software, some printer/scanners come supplied with said software,if not try one of these.

The first one "FreeOCR" is compatible with most scanners and easy to use.
