Help with all this RGB nonsense 😂

Hey, it's been over ten years since I last worked in IT and built a PC. I've been using a gaming laptop for the last five years because I travelled a lot. But I've decided to trade my freedom for power (the harddrive died). And I subsequently have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. But I want the pc to look pretty.

Here's the spec I'm looking at currently. I'm very confused with how many case fans and if the case fans are RGB... And where the LED strips go. Are the cables RGB? Is the Graphics card and watercooler rgb? The RAM? I literally have no clue... But I want RGB 😂 I want it.

Any help is appreciated XD

We'd love to help and tweak your build for you to give you the best performance/value for your budget. I can instantly see some items that we'd recommend swapping out.

Could you read through the below collection of posts and let us know the answers to some of the questions posed.

i.e.
  • what monitor are tour pairing this with (make & model, or size/resolution/refresh rate)?
  • what sort of games are you interested in (styles of game, or specific game you want it to excel at)?
  • what's your budget, and is it a hard or soft limit?
  • do you want lots of flashy RGB bling, or are you not bothered?
  • do you need a very quiet build, or are you happy for some fan noise when things get extreme?

I am pairing this with a 34" curved AOC monitor 144hz and a 27" inch Samsung monitor at 144hz.

I play tonnes of games. Graphics is important. I had a pc before looking at this one that I had to return that was using a 3060ti and that was honestly perfect for me.

I do a lot of graphic design and animation.

My budget is £2500. It's a soft limit if it's not too much over.

I want as much RGB as I can afford. But the issues I had with the pc I had to send back was rf interference and they wouldn't allow me to control my own fans as their warranty wouldn't cover it. So when the RF interference cut the fans out I couldn't manually turn them back on. I was super annoyed with vibox about that.

And I couldn't care less if the pc sounds like a jet plane taking off when things get intense. 😂 It doesn't need to be quiet.

In that case, I think a gamer-focused 7800x3D build (which is the king of gaming CPUs at the moment) will be very similar to what we've been recommending for other heavy gamers, and would be something like this.

Case
CORSAIR iCUE 4000X RGB TEMPERED GLASS MID-TOWER ATX CASE - changed the case as the Hyte Y40 can't accommodate a H150 cooler and the extra 3 fan kit - and this case comes pre-installed with Corsair fans at the front
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) - THE gaming CPU, and won't bend/overheat/throttle like the 13900 will
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (DDR5, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s) - plenty, unless you need extra a PCIe 5.0 slot and an extra PCIe 4.0 slot
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 5600MHz (2 x 16GB) - the fastest that PCS currently offer due to issues with the older BIOSes - should be coming out of beta soon to fix this, so you may want to buy the smallest/cheapest RAM you can here and then upgrade to the 6000MHz+ once the stable/tested BIOS is available
Graphics Card
12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 Ti - HDMI, DP, LHR - can save £300 if you stick with the 16GB 4060Ti (or £200 if you go for 16GB AMD 6950XT) - but this will 1440p & 4k
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 6500MB/sW)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
4TB CORSAIR MP600 PRO NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 7000 MB/R, 6850 MB/W) - remove £80 from the total below as I've had to put this is as a placeholder for the back-ordered 4TB CORSAIR CORE XT MP600 (no need for the extra speed of the Pro for games storage)
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIESâ„¢ - MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - preferred level for new builds to give headroom for the next GPU upgrade in a few years time
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
ARGB Power Supply Extension Cables
LIAN LI ARGB STRIMER PLUS V2 24-PIN CABLE - as per original config
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT RGB High Performance CPU Cooler - will nicely fill the top of the case and keep everything running optimally
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING - not needed as the Corsair AIOs come with pre-applied paste
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT
USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS

Thank you so much for all the help, this is amazing honestly I am so out of the tech loop these days! Do I still need the extra LED strips?
