Help with my new Mini PC build please!

Hello all,

I am looking for a new pc build which I hope can give me both portability and upgradability. I initially was going to buy a laptop but couldn't bring myself to spend so much money on something which hasn't the ability to upgrade. So instead I thought maybe a mini pc is the answer!?

My requirements are:

Needs to be easy to move around the house to use in different rooms and take out with me to different places. Maybe fit in a backpack and robust.

Needs to be powerful. I want to use it for gaming, VR and 3D design work.

I plan to use it mainly with tvs in the house for gaming and have a monitor setup at a desk in attic for when I want to work.

It needs to be easily upgradable

Ideally fit in tv cabinet when gaming.

I prefer understated style so less "gamer" looking.

My budget is £1300.

I probably don't need a monitor as I will use it with my tv initially so what are the best peripherals to use in this scenario? I was thinking of having a wireless keyboard with touchpad and a steam controller maybe?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Hi Oussebon,

OK thanks for that I didn't know that one had heat issues (I did have my eye on it for the form factor). I quite like the fractal design node 304 for its size and the bitfenix prodigy one because of the handles. So either one of those really.

I have a 1080p tv

i7, Assuming your software makes use of hyperthreading.
You could go with the i7 6700k if you want a slightly faster CPU but the configurator insists on at least the H55 cooler with that CPU...
If your software doesn't make use of hyperthreading, you could consider an i5 6600 and a GTX 1070.
CS series PSU as fewer cables in an ITX case is probably for the best (inb4 someone points out that it's not always true that modular is better in a small build)
