with a budget around £1000 I came up with the following specs.
I need quad cores and fast CPU, fast GPU (no need for more than 1Gb, faster the better) and fast access HD for my crazy 120Gb flight simulator sceneries.
I just need to run flight simulators such as x-plane (opengl) and dcs A10 (dx9).
Also no sli and trying to save on wattage where possible, single GPU.
I've got a few points I'm not sure about still, here they are
GPU: I chose radeon because of an incompatibility of my favourite game freefalcon and new nvidia cards on windows 7 so ati is the way to go.
CPU: i5 3.30Ghz or i7 3.40Ghz? I heard the i5 could indeed run faster?
HD: 1x 600Gb 10k velociraptor or 1x slower 7200rpm plus 1x 120Gb ssd? ( but 120gb is not enough for my games)
Soundcard: which one is a nice card that lightens the load on CPU ? (I don't need 5.1 or 7.1, I'm just using regular headphones)

I'm this close to ordering a system, just need to finish my crash course in technology, the last time I assembled a desktop pc pci just came out and having a pci graphics card was considered cool. Good old days
