High-Performance Mini-ITX Build

Hello all,

So I have decided to move into Mini-ITX territory for me next PC build. My aim is to have something that is high-powered and efficient, but has a clean minimalist aesthetic. This is my first Mini-ITX PC, so I am not that experienced with the ins-and-outs of computers like these. If someone could look it over and let me know if there is anything that immediately stands out that would be great. Any tips or pointers to keep in mind when configuring these computers?

As I said before I want a minimalist case and look to the computer, no unnecessary LED's or windows. Which is why I'm having second thoughts about my chosen case. It has a window on the top, that serves no purpose other than to see inside. It does have certain features that are appealing, like magnetic fan filters so I can clean it easily and it appears to offer decent cooling. But the top window is putting me off. I have been looking at the Silverstone Sugo Series SG08 and SG13, though I'm not experienced enough to find out whether my chosen setup will work in those cases.

Finally, my last query is with the graphics card I have chosen. Could someone clarify what is meant by 'Pre-order only'. When will it be available?

Cheers, F

This build will mostly be doubling up as a work machine and gaming computer. I do a lot of work as a 3D artist so I'll be using it for remote work and personal projects. I also cheekily want it to be a gaming rig too.
I have no plans to overclock anything, I don't tend to to that with my PC builds. Why, what are your thoughts on the CPU?

I have no plans to overclock anything.

Downgrade the CPU to an i7 4790 non-K version. The "K" just means that it's an unlocked CPU so it's good for overclockers. If you compare the K and non-K versions of the same processor, you'll see literally no performance difference at stock clocks.

Thanks for the info! Is there anything else that will need changing? I'll be going ahead with this soon

The V300 SSDs apparently have performance issues. The Samsung or HyperX SSDs are a better choice. I would also personally go for the 650W CS series power supply. The CS series is better quality and more efficient. Also consider a silver warranty. Apart from that it looks very nice and will be a great system :)
