Hoping for some advice please.

Hi, my pc was on top of a set of drawers and on drawer was slammed which knocked the pc off. It now won't start up. I imagine something was knocked loose. Initially it gave 3 beeps so I reseated the ram which stopped the beeping but it still doesn't start up. I wanted to check the power supply but can't figure out how to safely i have a fractal 6 case I believe and I don't know if I should just unscrew the box and pull it out to check the cables. Does anyone have any advice for things I can check?

Edit to add power reaches it the GPU and keyboard light up and fans start but there's no beeps and the power light does not look the blue it usually does

Unfortunately there's not going to be an easy way of testing this. If this happened to me personally I would be unplugging everything, removing every component and then re-assembling the system minimally (CPU, Cooler, single RAM stick, GPU & PSU). Then plug in the power switch & power LEDs to the case. I wouldn't even have a HDD plugged in until I got a POST screen.

If this doesn't get you anywhere successfully then I would try the other stick of RAM.

If it's still terminal at this point it is a complete guessing game. The fact that you're getting power of sorts doesn't rule out the PSU but it makes it unlikely. The RAM should survive a fall without any issue, as should the CPU. The main points of failure would be the motherboard, hard drive and PSU.

Unfortunately the CPU can be damaged by the cooler or secondary damage from other parts. It's such a guess in this situation.

Its easy to narrow down the issue when you have spares to test, but when you don't it's near impossible to be accurate.

Thanks for the reply - luckily it didn't fall it was just shaken I guess from the slammed drawer. I suspected I would have to do this but was just hoping maybe people would know the list of likely suspects that could go loose easily. Thanks again.

Ahh, if it didn't fall then hopefully it's just something simple. I would definitely disconnect everything from the PSU first, before re-connecting the core parts.

Will do. Relieved to have someone else tell me what logic was telling me and my brain wouldn't listen, that it should hopefully be something simple as it was just a slammed drawer. Tea and clear mind and slow and steady work through it it looks like . Thanks again.

Slow and steady. Change one thing at a time and test. Be logical, don't "poke and hope"....
