hotkey issues vortex iv

Hi all,

Since I got my vortex laptop back from RMA with a new motherboard, the backlit keyboard hasn't worked. I've reinstalled the hotkey driver, and I can open the colour config software etc, but none of the lights work.

Anyone had similar issues? I'd rather not return the laptop again if that can be avoided!

Cheers

Hmm not sure tom, loose connection with the keyboard perhaps, there should be instruction in your manual on how to remove the keyboard. You could try that to check the connections.

Failing that i would give PCS a call they might have suggestions, there open till 8.

Sorry cant be any real help

Mike

Good point - now to find the manual :whistling: I worry about voiding warranty on these things but I can always check first. Cheers.

Have you installed the correct one for your windows? also is it actually turned on? you can change the colours without it being turned on. try Fn and * keys together( the * above the 9 on the right hand number pad)

Yep, the same driver as was already installed. The keyboard lights are 'on' according to the pop up graphic when I press the key combo :( Really don't want to have to send this back again.

You wont void your warranty taking the keyboard off. We can order replacement keyboards to replace them ourselves if we ever need. You only void your warranty if you do some damage while your performing upgrades etc.

PCS machines are offered in such a way that your allowed to make modification to hardware like Adding RAM, HDD GPU etc.

Ace - I'll take it off when I get home. Thanks mate.

Unfortunately disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard didn't fix it. Currently in slow talks with PCS via portal messages. As it's not a show stopper I'm in no rush although it's very useful to have lights when playing in the dark :)

Whoever built the laptop the second time round put the ribbon in the upside down :whistling: turned it over, reconnected it and it works now. Phew.
