How do I fast track an order I already made (and: what do you think of my system?)

Hi Guys,

I'm on 3rd working day ("in testing") of my new laptop order and now want to "fast track my order". But I cannot see an option to do this, despite having browsed all round the "Account Home" and "My Account" options. Similarly there is no option to do so under "My orders" > "Amend Order".

Can anyone help?

Also, what do you think of my new system? It is planned to be an all-round system, both office and general gaming (stuff like the Total War series, GalCiv3 and Virtual Pool 4), but is not meant to handle the latest games at high res.

Thanks.

Probably me but not sure how to read your post, is it three working days in total and now in testing, or has it been in testing for three days. Laptops are usually despatched within a day, two at the most, of going into testing, so fast track would not make a lot of difference and just be an additional expense. If it has been in testing for three days that would suggest a problem. If you log on to your account and look at the order there will be a place that says "actions" that should tell you if they have had to redo anything.

Dear All,

Thanks a lot for your helpful comments and also your encouraging comments about my new system.

The fast track is now moot as I heard this morning my laptop has been despatched, much quicker than I was expecting - yay!

I will report back here with my impressions on it after I've played with it for a while.

Thanks again, cheers, Ed

Dear Antcol:

I have just returned my laptop (as specced above) for one with a more powerful video card.

The laptop was well-made, very responsive (quick), stylish and well functional. However, with the GTX 960M the video (games and benchmarks) performance was sub-par, I thought. Online discussions by people in the know recommend getting nothing less than the 970M. In my case, I have gone with the 6GB (!) version.

I will report back on this new laptop after I have played with it for a while. My first laptop was dispatched after just 4 working days, but it looks like this one is going to take rather longer :(

Cheers! Ed

I am surprised that you sent your laptop back, the spec is more than enough for most if not any FPS demanding GAME OR APP.
anyway good luck with the new one.

Re. this new laptop order, I am a little concerned, though, about the power my new system will draw. The adaptor that comes with the system is only 150W and I know from online specs the GTX 970M alone pulls 81 Watts. Then add to that a quad core i7, lots of RAM, an SSD, a HD display, and fans, and the system must be coming close to the 150W power supply max.

Do you think the above will be an issue?

It would have highlighted in the configurator if you needed a higher PSU, but do call PCS if you want that confirmed.
