How do I install Windows 8.1 ?

Can anyone suggest a website on how to install Windows 8.1?
I've never used Windows 8.1 before, although I vaguely remember dealing with W98 and using XP.

I've been using Linux for the last 8 years - which is hugely simpler.
Virtually all drivers are invisibly loaded for me.

In particular, should I setup separate admin & user accounts?

Thanks

You can just start the PC with the install disk in the optical drive and it will auto start and it will walk you through the installation process. If it doesn't auto-start you may have to change boot order to prioritise the optical drive in the BIOS.
It's nice to read and see what to expect:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/clean-install
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/wi...lete-guide-to-a-windows-8-clean-installation/
are, at a quick glance, two links that are no nonsense and what I would want.
If you have multiple drives of course be careful which one you format and install to.

I think you only need to possibly bother with accounts if more than one person uses the machine. I am the sole user of my PC and having to enter or choose anything during boot would be a pain for me, as would having to change account every time I wanted to do anything adminny.

One of the good things about W8.1 is it seems to have several drivers included that had to be manually downloaded for W7. Recent hardware seems to be pretty much plug and play.

Thanks @spuff - Book-marked and very good points.

The PC isn't actually for me, so I can reluctantly bring myself to effectively run with 100% administrator rights. :taz:
