How is it possible ???

I’ve ordered PC from PC Specialists at the beginning July. They made me wait for over 20 days because they didn’t have the processor that I’ve chose in stock. When PC finally arrived, my graphic card overheated and got burned after 1 HOUR of playing Crysis 2. I’ve arranged RMA, guys from Yodel came and picked it up the next day, it was 03/08/2011. Currently I hardly get any updates on my RMA. Today I received an email:

“ Hello

Unfortunatly your GPU failed causing the PC to stop booting. We have returned the GPU to the manufacturer as we have no HD6990s. Currently no one has stock as everyone wants one. We do aim to have a replacement in a few weeks. we are sorry for the delay.

If we can assist you any further, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Many Thanks

James Davies”

FEW WEEKS? Seriously? How is it even possible? Hardware get’s old every day, why do I have to wait few weeks when I paid for it already? Is this a joke? Give me my money back and let me pay you for the PC when comes back, “in few weeks”...

Have you tried calling them? Try that instead of ranting on here, you'll probably be able to come to some sort of solution, maybe providing you with a different model GPU.

I'm just expressing how I feel. They took money for the PC and now I don’t even know for how long they will keep me waiting. If they won’t find different solution, I will request my money back.

You'd be best off ringing them up, even request a lesser GPU as a replacement and ask them to refund the difference should it be neccessary... The fact that your CPU overheated and failed is unfortunate but that's what happens with technology, things fail.

You have every right to feel the way you do,and I sympathise,
try giving them a call to see if anything can be sorted out.

gutted dude, give them a call, enough though your angry keep calm and be polite, not saying ya not now. But ranting at pcs will not help any situation, the only result of that would be to increase your anger.

Could you change your order and opt for two 6970's?

Don't see them doing that in my opinion, afterall, they won't be able to resell the 'temporary' card.

Never hurts to ask though. After all, it's not BillG's fault that a new card will not be available "for a few weeks". You can argue that neither is it PCS's fault, but sometimes the company need to "take one on the chin" in order to keep the customer happy. Even if it is a much lower spec card that will at least let him use the machine to a degree. I know I'd prefer to have something rather than nothing for "a few weeks".

Today while surfing on the net , suddenly my system froze. When I restarted windows there was no SSD hard drive visable on the loading screen and my system started installing winows from the CD which I have inside my drive. I had to disconnect all the cables from the back of the PC and open the case to see what's going on. I'm not sure what was exacly went wrong, but when I reconnected SSD cables, system booted without any issue. I don't know if the cables got loose as firstly I took my SSD from the left side of the case instead of doing it from the right side, but hopefully that was it. Having more problems with this system would just give me more headache which I don't need. Now all works fine. I'm happy with my 2x6970 which have much better cooling than dodgy 6990 that burned after 1,5 of crysis 2 on max settings.

I would advise against leaving your Windows disc in the CD drive to be honest.

Anyway, everything is ok for you now I hope :)
