no need for sound card unless doing sound work, a cheap one like this wont benefit you anyway

id recommend getting the Corsair PSU, you'll regret it later if you dont when this one burns out

i dont see why youd want an overclocked processor, you want it to last long, so get one with a stable clock

no OS btw, so unless you have a copy you will need it

Okay, ill drop the sound card, and up the PSU, ill need a 1000 psu as im planning to SLI in the future, and PCS recommend a bigger PSU :), and for the CPU, how long do you think it will last, as they only go up to 4.6 ghz when it needs it? Say for playing WoW or MW3 i doubt it will need to go that high, or shall i just drop the overclocked CPU? :D

Wozza63

Biblical Poster
yes, i doubt you will be doing anything over intensive, so you can drop it to the normal i5 2500, not the 'k' version, that means you can overclock, but the normal version can still be overclocked just not as easy, i will be overclocking mine a few clicks once i get it, im also getting an i5

also without the OC processor you can probably live without the watercooling, unless you want it, like me, but im obsessed with cooling these are the parts i will be getting

Water Cooler
200mm Side Fan
4x80mm Fan
Ram Cooler
2 Graphics cards coolers
5.25" 3 fan conversion (maybe 2)
2 HDD fans for my old overheating HDDs
any additional fans PCS may add in

and i think thats it, at least i wont have trouble cooling down in the summer xD

im really considering getting the overclocked PC, as i know it wont be performing at 4.6 ghz but it's always there if you need it, so i dont think it will knacker the CPU. Im also definitely buying the 2year warranty so if anything would happen it would still be repaired/replaced :)
I dont think PCS would sell the pre overclocked PC's if they were really that bad. I'd rather buy a pre overclocked CPU rather than me doing it my self. Still got two weeks to think what im going for yet :p gotta earn half the money before my parents order it for me :L, 410 quid earnt, 240 quid to go and getting 30 quid a day :L

Wozza63

im in a similar situation to you, my parents are going to spend £500 and i can spend what i want which is currently around £650, would be £900 but my dad can get me VAT back which really helps :) plus im getting a 24" monitor

if you are on a budget dont bother with it, and doing a couple of clicks wont hurt, just print off a few tutorials from the internet first and then do what you need to do
and also the silver warranty is much better value, id consider it, it will save a lot of money

Yea i know, im not really on a budget, its all my own money, i work 5days a week until september, for when i start sixth form :), but im spending 1300 quid of my own money, and sold my xbox to my brother for 1000, which boosts it up to 1400 :p. I don't mind paying the 60 quid for an extra year. In a year anything can happen so 60 quid could be relatively cheap for what can happen to it. The price difference isn't a great deal buying a preoverclocked PC. Im going to be getting a 24" monitor aswell :p

Dropped the CPU down to the non K variant, and dropped the ram down to the 1333Mhz ram as the 1600Mhz is used for overclockers, plus dropped the CPU cooling down to the Titan Fenrir instead of water cooling, removed the sound card, and thermal paste, and used money saved to upgrade to the CORSAIR 1000W PRO SERIES (HX1000) 80+ MODULAR PSU, which tips you a little over your original budget, but will be better.

Wozza63

you can also make the wireless card PCI, there is no dl/ul speed difference and the £19 cooler will be fine, just make sure you phone up PCS and ask for them to install a side fan, that will be a cheaper solution

hopefully that puts it to your original budget

and you sold your xbox for £1000? lol typ-o

i was looking at the i7, but its like another 70quid for 0.1 ghz, so would rather spend that 70 quid on getting the better PSU. Still debating weather to get an overclocked system.

As for the fans, i thought the case came with three fans, or would they be extra fans, if so what would the prices be?
this is the system i am thinking of, changed the wireless card to the PCI one, and upped the PSU to the better one and kept the standard audio,

you dont have to pay for extra fans, usually. They will usually put in a side fan if your system is going to produce a pretty large amount of heat, whether you like it or not, but you can phone up and ask for extras, and if not they are dirt cheap and pretty easy to install

Not above your £1400 spec.

If you still want to go with the overclocked spec, then then spec you just posted looks pretty solid.

It comes with 3 fans in total.

Not really that worthit to go for overclocking just for gaming, the system alone will have no problems gaming with that spec. you can still overclock without the "K" variant just not to mad crazy heights as the "K".

The spec that SrgColman has come up is a real good choice if you not going for the overclock. although if you want to keep the side fan you may have to change the cpu cooler to the eco or copper as the titan is a big chap. you can double check if the fan will stay on the side panel or not once the titan is fitted by calling pcs to clarify :)

Could someone tell me the differences between the ASUS® P8P67 DELUXE (NEW REV 3.0): USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, CrossFireX™ / SLI and the ASUS® P8P67 PRO (NEW REV 3.0): USB 3.0/SATA 6Gb/s, CrossFireX™ & SLI? Im not very good with motherboards so would like to know whats the difference :p

Nothing. the Deluxe just has more extreme overclocking features and power. the Pro is just the same as the deluxe with less overclocking power. the deluxe sits near the maximus where the pro sits between the deluxe and the sabertooth and the first p8p67 board.

If i bought an overclocked CPU, would games like WoW and CoD push it to what its been overclocked to or would it just sit around its base frequency? Obviously its nice to have that extra power there if you need it.

Wozza63

Biblical Poster
WoW and CoD definetly wont push it, it may just get slightly over the top, but not to the full 4.5GHz or whatever it is, games like Battlefield and Fallout will test it more with those large maps

Hmmm yeaa, i think i will go for the overclocked CPU, as PCS wouldn't send an unstable PC.
Now i can't decide to go for a i7 2600k overclocked with a ASUS® P8P67 PRO (NEW REV 3.0): USB 3.0/SATA 6Gb/s, CrossFireX™ & SLI or a i5 2500k overclocked with a ASUS® P8P67 DELUXE (NEW REV 3.0): USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, CrossFireX™ / SLI.

So many choices lol :(
