I didn't realise...

Watching the days count-up.... Pre-Production 6th working day, 7th working day... would be so agonising!

It's not a complaint I read all the T&C's etc when I ordered and know it can take up-to 30 days, I've even changed it to 'collection' to save a day at the end as PCS aren't far away from me but MAN!

I've not had a new PC in 7 years. I UG'd my old one by adding more memory and an additional HDD but that's it.

Where has this pain come from?!

Yeah we've all been there, waiting is the hardest part, then theres upgrading your order while your waiting too.

What you waiting for? Lappy or a Desky?

Yea we all feel your pain buddy. If I could do it again I'd probably fast-track it if I could afford to but it just makes more sense to use that money towards better parts than to save myself like 7 working days of agonising pain.

I think (if I remember rightly) Grimezy ordered his around the same time as me. After half a day of waiting though I couldn't take it anymore and went for the 3 working day fast track. It was here in no time. Take my hat off to Grimezy though for having patience :p

Glad (in a way) to see I'm not alone. I think I'm just adding to the pain by checking it twice a day. When I got the e-mail from PCS the other night I opened it in anticipation of good news "Your order is now In-build" but alas, it was only confirmation that it was still in pre-production and could be for 8-9 working days.

Think I'm going to see if I can go a whole day, from now until tomorrow afternoon without checking the status.
When I placed the order last Monday I thought, wouldn't it be great if it came by Friday 26th, the wife is away at a Spa all day/night on Sat so I'd be sat here in spanking-new PC bliss. That dream has slowly faded.

It's a desktop I've ordered and with a few tweaks to my original chosen spec thanks to some help from KrossBowKitty & keynes

Wait you've only been checking it twice a day?! Dam... That takes some pretty strong willpower. I pretty sure I wore my F5 button out while mine was in Pre-Pro x)

Haha! Poor F5.

I've gone 5hrs now without checking. Wonder if I'll be getting the shakes by this evening.
Gonna watch some Crysis 3 gameplay videos to try eek out the time. Wonder if that's wise!

Once it gets to building you'll be surprised how quickly it flows from then on! It felt agonising for me, too - luckily I was content with everything in the order and never upgraded anything after placing it, as other people seem to do the opposite, and as much as I wanted to, I never checked the status much either, three times a day at most.

Yeah, I've had a look through the specs again and gone through the configurator and I'm happy with what I've chosen. I can't see where I'd make any changes now really.
I was tempted to go with a 3D setup but if I want to have a go with that I'll hook it up to my 3D Samsung TV. I know that this can be pretty awkward to get working but I can be quite determined :) I've played a few 3D games on my Xbox 360 so would be interested to see if it's any better playing 3D games on my TV with a PC.

As far as I know I don't think you can play 3D games on a normal 3D tv on your PC. I believe you need a 3D ready monitor with an nvidia transmitter built in/bought separately i.e. Asus VG278h/Benq XL2420TX, etc.

Edit: I do apologise, after a quick google it seems that nvidia do this: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html

Looks like you have to pay to have the priviledge though... Might be another way that I've overlooked though.

Another thought.... apologies as I'm going off my original topic. This PC will be connected to my monitor most of the time but I'm curious to try it with my 50" 1080p TV.
Will I see a significant improvement over say playing BF3 on my Xbox 360 on my TV against hooking my new PC up and playing BF3?

You certainly would see an improvement but I would imagine you'll be better off playing on a monitor mostly because the TV will likely 'post-process' the image and add lag to the refresh rate. Basically a monitor should give a better image. Although unless you are a hardcore gamer... you probably wouldn't notice the difference and only notice the improvement in quality! :)

It depends, I've played on a 42 inch 1080p screen, 32 inch lcd screen, a 19 inch 1280x1024 office monitor and now my 24 inch 1080p screen. My order of enjoyability while gaming would be:

1. 24 inch
2. 19 inch (yes you read correctly)
3. 42 inch
4. 32 inch

TV's will naturally feel less 'connected' and like Steaky said things like input lag and response times are not as sharp. I noticed very little improvement visually going from a 24 inch to a 42 inch as at the end of the day, you are still running the same resolution, the screen is just bigger. Plus I had to sit a lot further away so I couldn't see the detail that I could while sitting close to a monitor.

In my opinion tv's should be left to console gamers, even on my 7 year old 19 inch 1280x1024 monitor connected via VGA I still enjoyed gameplay more as it was much more fluid and responsive. And now on my 24 inch the detail is so crisp and textured due to the quality and the distance away from the screen that I am that I just don't think a 50 inch tv would challenge it visually. Unless of course size is all that matters to you x) Tv's seem to be fine when gaming using a pad but m+k was never great for me. Plus you get stuffed all the time on online fps's while using a tv.

Well I just had to log-in when I got a mail this afternoon saying "Your order has now been built and is awaiting testing and configuration"

I know there's Testing and QC left yet but as it's marked for collection I'm wondering now if there any chance this would be done soon enough and I'd be able to pick it up tomorrow after work? I've got loads of time this weekend (and not much for the next 3) to spend setting it up and enjoy it. That would be PERFECT! Everything crossed!

Spoke to them and they advised best to call about this time again tomorrow and check. It could go through Testing and QC by then and I could go pick it up.
Possible collection on Sat too which was a nice surprise. Still got things crossed.
If I can get it tomorrow I can install Windows tomorrow night and get everything else installed and sorted ready for fun on Saturday. I'll complete a review and post pics once I'm up and running.
