Hi!

I had a hard decision which laptop should I choose in Hungary on a price level, with a configuration. I was looking for a middle category, 15.6" screen, gaming laptop. I found such types laptops which have these criterions and made hellish temperature in tests, I don't write manufacturers' name... So I became total confused. By luck I found a post about PC Specialist in a hungarian hardware forum and when I saw the variety, I knew I have found what I was looking for.

My choice is a Clevo N150RD.

Hi,

I'm getting this laptop very soon too (hopefully). Can you please post about the pros and cons of the laptops? What are your specs and how hot the laptop gets when in intensive use? And if you got the SM951 drive can you please do a benchmark on it?

Thanks.

Edit: Changed d4ive to drive.

Hi!

After one year I have to write my final experiences about this laptop, so this is Optimus VII, Clevo N150RD. It's a very poor quality laptop.

- very hard to keep clean matte plastic surface
- plastic house is very fragile, when I had to change display, plastic broke
- just before some days jack connectors gave up, now I have to buy external, USB sound card with own jack connectors
- I'm waiting new faults from now....

So I don't offer this I got very bad experences about this type Clevo. As soon as possible I will sell it and try another manufacturer's item.

I have the earlier Optimus IV and I'd agree that the plastic is hard to keep clean. Mine has also developed very noticeable wear marks where my palms rest when typing, but mine is now over three and a half years old and you have to expect some signs of wear after that time.

Why did you have to change the screen? Did you do this yourself? If you had returned it to PCS for a screen replacement the plastic would not have been broken I think.

It sounds like you plug and unplug the audio sockets often? Mechanical parts do wear out of course, they wear out faster if you're not that gentle with them too.

PCS (Clevo) laptops are not designed or marketed as being rugged and although portable they have to be treated with care if you expect them to last.
