I need help with monitor compatibility.

I am ordering a new rig from PCS at the end of this month and at can't afford a new monitor at the same time. For now I will have to use my existing one and need some help with how to connect it. I'm going for the 4gb Nvidia geforce GTX 970 card and realise that I will probably need either an adapter or new lead to connect to it. I have an Asus LCD P225HQ Monitor that has DVI 1 connections which I believe are not compatible with the 970 card. Can you tell me whether I will need an adapter and what kind or if there is a lead that can be purchased to connect the two?

I have attached two photographs with images of the ports on the monitor and the model stamp. I hope I have given you enough info to go on but if not just let me know. Thanks.

Regards'

Ken Rowan.

In your photo, your monitor has a DVI-D (dual link) input connection (the white one) which you should want to use, (instead of the VGA input (blue one))
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

If you look on the Geforce site at the spec of the gtx970, it does say it has Dual Link DVI-I, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort 1.2

I don't know what Manufacturer your card will be though... you might find the card you get has both DVI-I and DVI-D outputs.
Here you can see MSI's version has both:
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_970_Gaming/3.html

Also don't know what lead you already have / are using...

If the card does have DVI-D output, (which is the same as your monitor) - then a standard male to male DVI-D to DVI-D Dual link lead is what's needed:

If the card only has a DVI-I output... then use the same DVI-D lead, and maybe add a converter (female DVI-D to male DVI-I) ?

Probably best to ask PCS which make of card they will supply, and exactly what outputs it has... then you know what lead you need.

I guess from moosEh, that is confirmation that the GTX970 card that PCS will be supplying does indeed have a DVI output of the type DVI-D then?
