Now, the pc is just for gaming and basic work (excel mostly).
There is no monitor in there but the idea is to buy a 35' ultrawide 1440p 144hz monitor, It will just have to be in a couple of months.
I have included a 1660 gpu because the idea is also to wait for the release of the new GPU's in a few months time.
Could you let me know what you think of it? My main doubts would be with the motherboard but also not sure if the PSU is overkill and I think for my needs, a m.2 SSD is not really necessary and to be fair, at least I don't think I need to pay the additional price for a minimal reduction in loading times.
More than happy to hear your thoughts because my order list is becoming ridiculous!

Thanks!

Editing is something I'll never do unless I do a complete career change and it isn't likely hehe
Streaming.. I doubt it. I'm not that good at gaming to justify it. So that just leaves the idea to enjoy playing in a wide screen :)

Regarding the MB, is that the best option?

I would actually go down the way rather than up the way to be honest. There's no real need for an 8 core chip for this usage. The 6 core is more than enough, and the B550 covers this level of chip without any issues. Allows 1TB of M2 speed/storage over 500GB which will be quite handy.

I dropped the GPU to the 1650 Super. No point in spending the extra money when the monitor isn't bought yet. 1650 Super will do well at 1080p (presuming this is where you are at). 3080 will be the ideal Ultrawide replacement.

Rest looks great...

Considering I paid on finance, not sure how credit notes are processed though, I'm a bit cautious with that.. but will try, thanks for the advice!

And about the monitor, it is 1080 indeed. I doubt I'll be buying the monitor before mid-September.

When you paid, what did you pay as a deposit amount?
From my experience, refunds have gone back against the deposit payment method where i have altered specs before. I dont know what happens if that total exceeds the deposit amount though, I think it goes against the finance agreement so your outstanding loan amount is reduced. Best to contact PCS

It was minimal, the refunds are higher. Hopefully it went towards the finance loan but yes, I'll get in touch with them. The thing is, between credit notes and additional orders, I have probably paid more but just to ensure those credit notes were actually processed.

Anyway my order went into pre-production today and received an email saying the assemble is estimated to be on the 31st July.. finding it a bit too ambitious after reading other topics so taking it with a pinch of salt but can't avoid being super excited hehe

I'm thankful for all the ideas in here but just one doubt @Scott or @Nursemorph , will I really need 750w for this or is it just to cover future upgrades? I've also decided not to go for the NVMe SSD and instead, increased the size of both HDD and normal SSD.

For the box, I kept the FRACTAL DEFINE 7 BLACK QUIET MID-TOWER CASE,
For the MB, I went for the ASUS® ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING (USB 3.2 Gen 2, PCIe 4.0) - ARGB Ready! mostly because of the additional USB ports and ended up adding the OS because I think I'll just prefer to have everything set up so my chances of messing something up are minimal.

The 750w was chosen partly to cover any future upgrades and partly because it is a much better PSU...the TxM is a good PSU but the RmX is much quieter and efficient as the fan in it only runs when the system is under load rather than all the time. Also easier to add/remove components as it is modular.

Case: Can't argue with that.

Motherboard: You might want to make sure that the case allows the extra USB ports, depending where on the motherboard they are.

SSD: That is your choice so fair enough. Personally, having used an M2 drive for 6 months now, I wouldn't want to go with a normal SSD. Everything loads a little faster (some of that was having a better system of course)

Had the bad idea of going to the chat to discuss PCS parts (eventually to replace the cooler) and ended up changing the MB to the one Scott advised and the case as well to a quieter one. This allowed me to cover the M.2 SSD and what seems to be a quieter cooler too.

Hey again!

So I have made a few changes since then, I just can't seem to get happy. However, I have a bit of an issue with the GPU now. My monitor is the LG 38GL950G, can this GPU do anything on it? Also in the build page, it only says HDMI, I searched on Google and it says this has a DP port but just to confirm, do you know if it does?

Obviously the 1650 Super is just to stay until the new 3000's are released but if the, say, 2060 or 2060 Super can handle it considerably better, I could bite the additional price for the time being. But I don't know what the difference would be as I've read that even the 2080ti can't push this monitor to the maximum.

I'm reaching the final few days from my order being built but I was reading on a different topic and something came to mind.
I won't do any VR this year (mostly because this has already been a very expensive year and the GPU is still coming..) but would this build (other than the GPU) be good enough for it? And also, is it balanced or should I be amending something? GPU is only staying until the new ones are released and then the idea is to buy one in the £1000 range. For now, this will be for gaming at 3840x1600 (up to the fps the 1650 can cover of course).

I would go with the 3800x as it is only £11 more. I would also drop the Gen 4 drive down to the Samsung M2 as the write speeds are faster. Either way you will be good to go for a new GPU and more than enough for VR (as long as the GPU is the right one of course)

It is £21 more but yes can still go for it if you think will make a difference with VR or say to play FS (in terms of productivity I won’t need anything like that).

Weird...when I change it, it increases the overall price by £11  WIll it make a huge difference? Maybe, maybe not....but for £11 I would personally go for it (if it was like £50 more then I wouldn't bother)...even with that, once you take the hard drive change into account the whole build ends up cheaper anyway

That's odd. In here it adds £21 and when I change the hard drive, it is just a £5 charge which is fine.

I would definitely go for the 3800X, I would even consider swallowing the pill and getting the 3800XT, this is the best chip for gaming just now IMO. Will add a fair bit to most uses.
