Installing more memory in Vortex III E3D

I was wondering if anyone has installed extra memory in the two slots under the keyboard.
I will be adding another 8gb to my build soon and since PCS installed my ordered memory in the slots that are easy to access i was wondering if someone knew of a video guide or something.

From what i understood, there are 4 slots for RAM, two that are on the opposite side hidden under the keyboard and then two under the access panel on the base of the machine....
I am really surprised that PCS would use the easy-access ones rather than installing it in the "hidden" slots during building.

From what i know, the only way to access the slots under the keyboard is to physically open the casing...this often marks the case and isnt something i would recommend unless you know exactly what you are doing. Contact PCS and see if they will deal with it for you or take it to a nearby computer shop and have them do it, last thing you want is to cause damage unwittingly or find you break your warranty for opening it up like this... (i dont know if it would, but it is quite common to have clauses like that in a warranty as you can do all sorts of damage)

As I have built 2 desktops for myself and 1 for a friend and also reinstalled memory in my GF's laptop im not worried about breaking something. I know where they are, its just i prefer seeing someone doing it (youtube etc) before i do it myself.

Hi,

I have installed extra RAM in the keyboard slots and it is relatively easy.

Above your function keys there is a thin strip of plastic that stretches all the way across the edge of the keyboard. This is what you need to very carefully lift up. It is not stuck down or screwed in, it simply clicks into place at either end, you just need to gently lift it by sliding something extremely thin underneath and it will eventually spring up and come away.

Once this is removed, the screws that hold in the keyboard are revealed. remove the screws and the keyboard can now be lifted out. Be aware that the keyboard is attached to the chassis in two places so again....be gentle.

The keyboard can now be folded over (using the area under the space bar as a pivot point), whilst still attached and laid face down over your trackpad and the two extra RAM slots are sat right in front of you.

Hope this helps

According to this www.pcspecialist.co.uk/faqs/ you won't void the warranty simply by opening the case and installing your own components. Of course, it's a different matter if you break something but there's no real danger of that if you're careful.
