Installing & Moving CM Fans

Hi,

I have a HAF 912 Plus case and have 5 fans with a fan controller.

I bought two extra red led cm fans and wanted to install them a the front and move the large front fan to the top, however I was not able to because I have no idea how to detach the fan wires from the controller.

I managed to swap the side fan because for some reason it was a simple swap and I can't understand why I can't do it for the others including the two 120 on top.

This may seem a bit confusing the way I have layed it out but hopefully it makes sense to someone.

Thanks

The fan controller has many cables coming out for the fans you wish to connect to. Have you open both side panels to trace the cables coming out of the fan controller?

Yeah but it still seems too complicated. Think I'll leave it how it is.

I've also just realised that the red led light isn't working on the large fan!? There should be a light right?

The front fan? Does your case have a led power button on the top front?

As far as I'm aware no, I've tried connecting it to another wire but still no red light. I've even took the side off and detached ALL the wires and put them back in again but nothing and now getting CPU fan error. I think I need to ring PCS tomorrow as this is worrying me. Not touching this anymore.

CPU fan error sounds like you either forgot to Plug back in the CPU fan to the header on the motherboard, or something is stopping the fan from spinning, to me anyway

The cpu fan is spinning which is why it doesn't make sense to me.

If the fan is spinning and you get the error then you could try to re-set the cpu fan cable to the motherboard, it might be the case that is not attach properly. Can you boot to windows?

I attached it to the mobo but still no luck. As soon as I turn desktop on I get the error.

You could check your motherboard manual to make sure you are connecting it to the right place (should be labelled cpu fan anyway in the mobo) but other than you just need to call technical support for further assistance.

Hey chrcar59

Can you tell me what the exact model of your fan controller is please.

Also are your CPU cooler fans attached to the NZXT fan controller or to the motherboard fan header?? If you are not sure, and is possible just upload some pics of the inside of your case and we will see if we can spot whats whats.

Would you mind telling us what the issue was? It could help others with the same problem.

It's pretty much what you said Ruben;

The cable had become detached and I plugged it into the wrong part of the mobo. The correct place was right at the top where at first I did not see until I phoned up PCS.

The fan wasn't working because one of the wires had become dislodged during transit and they are kindly going to send another one out.

Glad you got it sorted :)

Thanks,

Another thing.

I have finally worked out how to move fans around after a quick conversation with PCS haha, but......... Always a but...

I have placed 2 120mm fans at the front each containing a silverstone filter after a recommendation on YouTube. However, the front panel will not go on correctly now as its pushing it out from the bottom right or bottom left, only one side will go in correctly. If I remove the bottom fan filter, the panel fits.

Has anyone got any suggestions or if anyone has gone this with the ha 912 plus?

Have you tried mounting it so it goes: Fan-filter-case-screw? I hope that makes sense.. Basically, you end up sitting the filter in the case so it's not blocking the front panel :)

Made a quick doodle in paint:

The first one is how i think you have it set up, the 2nd one is my recommendation.

Key: Yellow = Screws, Blue = Fan, Red = Filter, Black = Case
