Heya,
I got my laptop like a year ago and I want to get insurance (yea, I don't know what took me so long, lol). But I don't know what to choose for the brand and model?? What is the brand for pc specialist laptops? And what do I put for the model? Cos my order just says ''Vortex series'' ... I'm not sure which Vortex it was :/

Also, as a side note, if you guys purchased insurance for your laptop, who did you get it from please? Not sure who to go with. Thanks :)

It's likely to be the vortex IV if you bought it a year ago, in which case the 15" is a Clevo P150SM-A and the 17" is a P170SM-A

I've never insured a laptop, please don't tell anyone in case they rob me out of spite... the only place I know for tech items is protectyourbubble.com, just did a quick look, they'll only insure it if it's under 36months old, and mine came to 7.99/month.

Haha, ok I won't tell :p
Yea I think it was IV, but I feel like it had other letters, like LE? Hmmm :/ Lol. How did you find the ''P150SM-A'' thing? Like, do I need to put that when I apply for insurance? Or can I just put vortex IV?
That's cool, I've had it for 15 months :) Thank you.

I think you'd need to put the clevo model number as PC specialist and the vortex iv don't exist outside of PC specialist really.

There's a hidden page on the website that lists the clevo model numbers for each current chassis, happen to know the vortex iv series quite well as I have one.

You could also already be insured under your home contents insurance or (very rarely) car insurance.

As spyder already said you can insure individual tech items through specific insurance but if possible its often better to protect everything under one policy like home contents insurance.

I insured my stuff through More Than, the standard contents insurance had a Jewellery section and a specials sections. In that section I added a Gaming Laptop for £1500 and a Gaming PC for £3000 and wasn't really asked for any specifics.
I have never tried to claim on it so no idea how that would work.

Same as with anything else, provide receipts/packaging and they will pay out, if its listed under special items with a price then you will get 3k to spend on a new system.

Hmmm, well I have my PCS receipt showing 2.5k on the base unit, but I no longer have the proof of monitors, keyboard etc etc

Interesting what constitutes the PC being claimable on insurance. Hardware failure assuming is not covered, and I very much doubt they will believe that a thief only broke in and stole my base unit :/
I just put it on the insurance as the option was there and it didn't increase the price of the plan anyway.

How do I find the page? And how do I MAKE SURE it's the right model? Like I said, I think it was Vortex IV LE, but how do I make sure? Cos it doesn't actually state which Vortex it is on my order.

I don't have contents insurance, I'm pretty poor, lol. I just wanted to make sure I insure the laptop cos it was so expensive and I wouldn't be able to afford to replace it >.<

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptops/clevo-laptops/40/

that's the page with the laptops listed by model number.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you couldn't get insurance for everything you own under a home contents policy that wouldn't be cheaper than buying specific laptop insurance to be honest. You can get contents cover for well under £100 a year, just looked up 25k of cover with 1500 cover for gadgets and its sub 50 a month
