Ionico vs Defiance

Hi all,

It's probably a question that has been asked before but I don't really find my answer and also the replies I got from PC specialist seem to be different compared to what is posted here on the forum, so i'm hoping that someone that already has the laptop can reply here.

I would like to buy a new gaming laptop, with intel i7CPU, 32GB ram and a SAMSUNG EVO 970 drive in it.
It narrows down to the Ionico with the RTX3070 or the defiance with the RTX3080 max-q.

I think I found a review somewhere on Youtube which I don't find back anymore saying that the Ionico with the 3070 has the same performance as the Defiance with a 3080 max q due to the power limitations on the max q. Also there would be a possibity to change the powerconsumption on the GPU off the Ionico so that wen you're not gaming you can reduce the power to keep the fans at lower speed.
Can someone confirm that this is the case because pcspecialist replied me that the 3070 and the 3080 max q both work at the same 95W and that the possibility to change the power on the Ionico is not available.

If the Ionico has similar performance than the defiance due to the higher power on the GPU , what would be the advantage of buying a Defiance with a 3080 max q that is more expensive?

User @Macco26 has done some good reviews of the Ionico and mentioned about power consumption etc in those and his posts so do a quick search for them and that might help answer some questions.

I did not expect the ryzen 9 ionico so quickly... I might have waited a month longer!
Love my i7 version though.
As it's mainly for MSFS20 I am not sure if it makes too much of a difference to me?

No, they did not.

I was asking for an amd version of the recoil because i don't like the ionico keyboard (the incomplet num pad)
And the person said that she was not sure that they will have a amd recoil but they will have a new model that will allow tho chose an amd cpu.
She told me "maybe not monday, but next week" and she was not sure if there will be preco or direct order

I don't like it either, but have used utilities (e.g. KeyTweak) to move around keybinds and relocate what I need the most in the place I prefer.

Example:
- End is fine where it is (upper corner)
- Home is not. I rebinded the + numpad to Home
- PageDwn is not there. I rebinded - numpad to PageDwn

For the Enter numpad missing, the normal one is so near that I'm not missing much.

Just a hints that you can live with this keyboard.

I also want to use it for MSFS20. Is it possible to get descent 4K on an external screen or do you need to stay on HD resolution?

I get ultra settings (Render 100) on the 1440p screen. I have not tried 4K but would perhaps have to dial in back a bit? I get med/high setting with a few ultras (clouds!) on the oculus quest 2. You can set settings to 200 and ultra but I am not sure if even 3090 desktops can do that with >30fps at 4k?

Hope you're right. Another Ryzen 30xx laptop is now in stock again. They don't stick around long. Gonna wait a little bit longer..
