Issues playing games on Unreal Engine

Hi! So I've noticed a common issue with my PC (and judging by Steam forums etc, many others) when trying to play games that are Unreal Engine 5. It looks to be an issue with the processor - Intel® Core™ i9 24-Core Processor i9-13900K. The other forums suggest using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and setting cores from 57 to 50 and just before I do it, as someone that knows nothing about that type of thing, will it mess up my PC at all / performance?

Any help would be appreciated!

You haven't actually said what the issue is...but my first guess once I saw the build, is that the CPU is overheating, and as you've got it paired with a high-end GPU, low-end motherboard & cooler it may have caused other issues.

100% @TonyCarter is correct, that cpu cooler is designed for basic entry level processors. The CPU will have been thermal throttling most of the time which by now will have caused silicon degredation.

Another example with people not getting advice before ordering, such a waste of money

I wouldn’t even bother attempting any mitigation, I’d get it RMAd and likely get CPU / motherboard replaced. At The same time you could ask them to fit an adequate cooler, but even on a 360mm radiator you’ll likely still see silicon degradation over time

This was a pre built machine from PC Specialist 🙈

Really???? OMG I'm so sorry, that's truly awful.

To be completely honest, I would log a complaint and ask them to fit a 360mm rad for free as well as doing a full test of it after that's fitted. I'm probably gonna get struck off the forum for saying that but a 120mm rad on a 13900k????? There is no world in which that's ok!

Unfortunately we have seen plenty of pre-builts that are sub-optimal…in that they have a couple of high-end halo components with the rest stripped down to budget level to keep the cost look low…but they’re usually not very balanced.

Is there a way of me checking all the system specs like that? As that list was just from the order notes, so assume that's what they went with for the build. Think it was also the most expensive option as pre built PCs

You just look at the radiator

A 120mm radiator is just that, 120 x 120

A 360mm radiator is 3 times that size

For the rest you'd need to look at "System information" in windows for some bits

GPU-Z lookup button will tell you the exact GPU model

You can also install CPU-Z to give you specific information about RAM models and motherboard
