I bought my first PCS PC in 2010 and its still going strong now, and I am writing this on my Vortex IV laptop purchased last year which has proven to be an amazing laptop. The build quality, value for money and amazing customer service are why I am again coming to PCS to purchase my new desktop system. Seriously if you are lurking on the forums trying to decide if its worth buying from here I can not emphasize enough just how good they are both when buying and, from experience, many years after the purchase date!
Anyway decided as good as my system is it was time to upgrade:

For gaming only? The mothetboard is overkill regardless

It's for gaming and general use.
There was only a small difference in the cost, what would you suggest and why? Didn't go with the gigabyte as it didn't support the memory and didn't have wifi built in, I could change to the 2666mhz ram and change the processor to the 3.5ghz? No point in upping to 16gb ram?

Thanks

For gaming and day to day use you won't get any benefits from anything higher than 1600mh. I am surprised there is only a small difference in cost since the rampage extreme was like twice or 3 times more expensive than a standard one. I would go with a different cpu kand build if I were you like the i7-4790 and z97-A motherboard

I dont want to have to upgrade for a while hence the x99 and ddr4 - there is a £130ish difference between this mb and the cheaper but the cost of adding the wireless card takes away most the saving
