Problem:
Twenty five thousand photos keyworded already. In something like two hundred plus folders arranged in date order and then subfolder by file type: RAWs, processed PSDs, TIFs, and JPEGs.
How to efficiently keyword them all again with a greatly improved hierarchy of keywords?
Adobe Bridge treats all changes (spelling or hierarchy) as new words, Adobe Lightroom does too but at least we can use Find and Edit Keyword Tag to make batch changes before export.
As you will realise I am not keen on doing this one folder at a time (by file type?).
A bonus to a solution would also be...
Using an additional typographic and automatic way of labelling private (non-exporting) keywords. Become commercial and discover why you would want this!
Bonus info here for all who have read this far...
Using an underscore prefix in your keyword hierarchy puts it alphabetically before 'A' in a list. Just learned this myself! Useful for making sets.
