After a wait of over 3 weeks from date of order to date of delivery, my new custom built PC was delivered a couple of days ago. Was it worth the wait? Definitely! Firstly I should comment on DPD. I received a text message stating date of delivery, then a text message on the actual day of delivery giving a 1 hour time slot. Credit to DPD for delivering exactly on time. Anyway, first impressions often count and the packaging is a work of art. The PC itself looked unscathed from its time in transit, and all manuals and discs were enclosed.
As I always do, after receiving a PC via mail order, I whip the cover off and check for loose components or anything that may have become dislodged. All was well and a little poke about inside revealed some excellent cable management and a very tidy assembly job.
Switching on, the machine went through the usual initial setup procedure, something a novice might find a bit puzzling, it then asked for the product key and away I went. What was notable, was the complete lack of unwanted software, trial editions etc. A quick squint at the Programs listing in Control Panel confirmed this welcome lack of spurious software.
The machine is very quiet in operation, all inputs seem to be fully functioning and optical drives are working okay. All in all I can't fault the build quality or the value for money aspect of this PC. The cost difference between the standard component listing and the upgrades, (particularly in regards to hard drive size, memory capacity and processor speeds etc) make for exceptional value. I mourned the passing of Evesham Micros a few years ago, a very good company to deal with and one I purchased several PC's from over the years. It seems I have found a very good alternative for my future IT requirements. I have listed below my new PC's spec:-
