Looks nice.

I would bet that it will arrive in time, refer to my post, my specs are similar and my lafite laptop will have been delivered within 2 weeks of placing the order:

I would recommend the 500gb 7400RPM HDD as it is less than half the price of the 1tb HDD.
Only get the 1TB drive if it is absolutely necessary!

I made a list of the available hard drives and their prices:
5400RPM 500gb - £28
7200RPM 500gb - £34
5400RPM 1000gb - £75

As you can see above, the 1TB drive costs £41 more. You would be better off going with the 500GB if necessary, and then buying a separate drive as backup (necessary imo as if the drive fails, you lose ALL of your files!). You could buy a portable usb3.0 hard drive such as: http://tinyurl.com/onj57s4 or buy a desktop drive: http://tinyurl.com/okx3vdj
{note: difference between portable and desktop hdd. Inside, you have a 2.5" drive or a 3.5" drive. The desktop drive is likely to last longer, is cheaper, though takes up more space.}
Alternatively, you can, if you want, buy a 2.5"/3.5" caddy such as http://tinyurl.com/onarpp8. note: you can also get caddy's that are compatible with both 3.5" and 2.5" drives. After purchasing the caddy, you can purchase your extra drive, such as: http://tinyurl.com/obrvuqp. The advantage with purchasing the caddy and the separate drive, as opposed to a hard drive you cannot open (without voiding warranty) is that if the caddy breaks, you can replace it and pop the HDD into the new caddy. If the same happens with the 'caged' hard drive, you will have to send it off for it to be repaired and possibly pay for repair if the drive is out of warranty.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, I would suggest the 500GB drive unless the 1TB is absolutely necessary.
I would also suggest an m.2 ssd and install the OS on there.
That would improve the 'speed' of the laptop MASSIVELY!

In my case, I am purchasing the m.2 ssd from elsewhere because I wanted to keep the price of the laptop below £500. Reason being I am going with the 1 month free insurance - that option includes you paying monthly for insurance for a maximum of 5 years. The insurance if the laptop is below £500 is £6 a month. Above £500, it is £8. That difference being £2 a month, over the cost of the 5 years: 12*5*2 = £120. If I purchased the m.2 ssd with the laptop, it would cost £120 more just to have the m.2 ssd insured. If the m.2 ssd does break, I can just replace it for less than £120 - hence saving me money; ssd prices are on their way down now.
Though if you're not taking insurance with the laptop, you can just buy the m.2 ssd alongside the laptop. It will make it easier for you since you won't have to open up the laptop.

Besides that, the laptop seems sound. Will have solid performance I hope, provided your daughter won't be needing more than an i3 processor.

Note: I have noticed you didn't opt for an operating system to be installed.
I would recommend you purchasing Windows 8.1 Pro (Student) from microsoft store for £50: http://tinyurl.com/qhl6m5d

Your daughter will get the option of a free upgrade to windows 10 when it is released! All for only £50.

Note, your daughter will need to have access to a .ac.uk student email account provided by her college or university (if she goes to one). Or you can still ask someone who does have access to a student email account to assist you in getting the student discount. Also Note: I do not know if this is against the terms and conditions or if that have some sort of background check just to make sure the student account being used is from the actual buyer. I would highly recommend you read the terms and conditions before purchasing your OS if you intend to do this!

If you cannot get the student discount, I would suggest you purchase windows elsewhere (to keep the price below £500) or having PCS install windows and the necessary drivers for you.

I sincerely hope this has been of some help to you! :)

Oh and if you didn't know why the 2.5" 1TB drive is so expensive, compared to other ones is because this laptop only accepts 7mm drives - the cheaper compact drives are 9.5mm. It costs more to manufacture 7mm 2.5" drives.
